WIW: Adding some edge

My last WIW involved a blue-grey look, and asked people how to add some edge to it. This WIW is the result (I didn't buy anything new.) I have on the same jeans but have added a leather jacket and switched the grey top for a grey hoodie. Added black. Good for a crumby rainy day here.
I think this would look better with Chucks. I'm hunched over to get my head in the shot.

So do you think this is edgy? Or still not edgy?

I'm thinking some sort of floral might add a touch of unexpected. Or some red sunglasses?

Well you still look pretty wholesome (in the nicest possible way!) to me, but then I am hardly the last word on edge. The rubber boots are sturdy and practical, and I love them, but maybe not exactly edgy. What's under the hoody? One of those graphic black & white tees might up the edginess. Beautiful jacket, though, and really, you look great as is.

I like your look, you look great! It's a fab casual look.. I wouldn't really call it edgy though. As tulle said, I think different shoes would change it, maybe chucks as you said, and perhaps a long scarf, or something long and light under, such as an asymmetrial gauzy top.

I always think of contrasts when I think edgy...tough fabric such a denim or leather paired with soft drapey or something totally unexpected.

Yes, it's hard to look edgy in those boots, so chucks would be better, and the doll house is taking away edge, not your tilted head, but I love it!

Looks somewhat edgy to me. Maybe you need some docs? Or moto boots?

Take me with a grain of salt though. My version of edgy involves a ruler!

For some reason I actually thought those boots were kinda edgy!

So besides the Chucks, what about these boots? I was considering them for my fall capsule.

It's a great outfit and I agree with others, that it's edgy but could maybe be a bit more edgy? I love those boots in your Find..they are perfect and I think will do the trick.

Yes, I thought you nailed it, but I'm as square as it gets, so take my understanding of "edge" with a grain of salt. The question is - how does it feel to you?

I love the idea of adding a floral something - a scarf or a woven shirt layer underneath. And for the boots, if you're looking for edgy, I'd choose a distressed square toe motorcycle boot with hardware, that makes you look like you just stepped off your ride and into the airport. Maybe a messenger bag in lieu of a handbag, to prove you really own a Ducati.

This is definitely edgier than your other look. And I do like the black boots in your finds. Forgive me if I am way off base, but here are some things to think about. In your profile you mention liking bohemian and preppy style and your wiw photos show some feminine and classic pieces. So when you say you want edgy, do you truly want hard edge, rough around the edges, tough style (is this a style shift for you)? Or are you looking to add edge in the sense of some unexpected visual interest to your looks?

I'm looking to add some unexpected visual interest, because my outfits are a bit boring to me. I put together a leather look this time, with some black, because I have those pieces. I don't have any florals or much patterned pieces.

This is fairly classic. Simply adding black gives you classic in black. Do you use Pinterest? It helped me to clarify what I was looking for. The problem with using edgy as a descriptor is that it is so hard to pin down it's meaning. We had a forum discussion about adding and defining edge a while back. It might help you to look at that thread.

Those Fluevogs are great. My boyfriend has them, actually - they make them in men's sizes too. On him they look refined and non-stompy but still edgy.

Thanks for the clarification! Just based on what you've shown in your wiw posts I'd love to see the leather jacket with your gray top, club Monaco skirt and gray shoes. Could be a disaster, but I think you should try it! Also, building on Shedev's point, try searching google images for feminine edgy style. I think that will give you some ideas of how to remix your classic pieces and strategically add florals to make the looks feel more interesting!

I interpret "edgy" as urban unless someone defines it as something else for their style. As Urban, I think you nailed it.

On the Forum, search Flora Mortis for some edgy florals.
