I have wanted a knife-pleated skirt for a long time, but most of them pouf out very unattractively over my hip shelf. I figured out how to solve that problem recently though - buy the skirt 2 sizes too large so the pleats start below the shelf. This skirt has a wide flat waistband too so the pleats are even lower. Bonus is that the low rise gives it extra length so it avoids the cheerleader association.

How would you style it? I really want to wear it with one of my textured handknit tops, or with a jacket, but it's too hot right now so I opted for my pinstriped Theory shirt. I think the shirt might be a teeny bit too long for skirts though? (I generally wear it with pants or shorts.)

Also, how does one wash knife pleated items? Does the pleating survive being washed? Or should I just dry clean it? I do not want to have to iron all the pleats.
