Happy Mother's Day!

I'm going to brunch with my in-laws, and I won't get to celebrate with my own mom until I go to California next week. I thought it would be nice to wear something that reminds me of my mom. I always associate her with full, knee-length skirts - she never, ever wears pants (or tee shirts, or sneakers). She is always lady-like, but never too frilly or fussy.

I knew I wanted to wear this black floral skirt, since it's exactly the silhouette she loves, and in fact she sewed it for me ages ago. I paired it with a cream handknit top that is feminine with lots of waist shaping and small puffed sleeves. My Bruno Magli shoes are exactly the type of shoes my mom would wear (high quality Italian leather, black, and refined, although hers would have higher heels). Mom always carries a structured black leather bag, so I dug out the only one I own (mine is quite old and I don't use it often; unlike Mom, I prefer a slouchier bag.)

I hope everyone has a lovely Mother's Day!
