WIW: A-line skirt, boots, and my first vest

I love A-line skirts. I am afraid they're not super in fashion--am I correct?--but I like them.

This one is a salt-and-pepper tweedy-type fabric with side-slit buttoned pockets (the buttons are cute but make the pockets harder to use). It's from H&M, bought in Europe eons ago: in 2003. Yes! I keep my clothes for A VERY LONG TIME!!!

The vest is new, a gift sent from my mom. It's also a tweedy thing with leather inserts.

The boots are new too. I asked the forum for advice on whether to buy them, and I bought them! They are Bare Traps Sheree Snow Boots.

I added the scarf for a pop of color. I took the pix with the neckline all zipped up (for warmth when outdoors) but indoors I wore it semi-open, hence pic 3.

I'd never worn a vest before (well, other than dandy-looking menswear vests in the 80s, but those were for fashion, not warmth).

Not quite sure if this is the most current silhouette, but it's an outfit that feels like me.

I think it works perfectly well! The skirt has a cool retro vibe, which you've picked up again with the geometric pattern in the vest. Nicely done!

I was going to say the exact same thing as doubleh about the textures! I think that is really cool. I think all of looks great and I love the boots! The color in the scarf is so nice with everything else being neutral. I think you did a wonderful job mixing old and new pieces. As for the skirt, I have no idea where it falls on the trend continuum but I always thought A line skirts were so flattering they almost fit in the timeless category. But the other more savy ladies can answer that...

I like the retro vibe of the skirt and it works really well with the vest and the boots. The textures are fabulous -- so wintery and warm.

I'm glad that my self-thrifted skirt works well as a retro item and not just as an old piece! I wore it so much in the 2000s, then it got a little less action and I almost gave it away last Fall but decided not to at the last minute. I'm glad I kept it.

News from Europe is that A-line is trending again, thank the heavens, although I have no idea about the US. Try it with a cropped crew neck or a button-down shirt tucked in at the waist.

I like the vest a lot too. Fun with the skirt.

Try tucking a shirt or blouse into the skirt, or wearing it with a short fitted pullover - or a roomy cropped one.

I like the suggestions to wear the Aline with a tucked in or shorter top; that will show off the pocket detailing too.

I have that style of skirt as well, and third the suggestions to tuck a top or button-down into it. I like wearing mine with boots in winter. It looks great!

Approprio, Angie, Laura and Alassë: I will most certainly try with a tucked-in button-down shirt! Funny that you all mention this, because just yesterday I was thinking that my button-downs haven't gotten a lot of mileage recently and I was wishing for ways to wear them other than with trousers.
As for the pullovers, I don't think I have a cropped one--that would look so interesting! But I might have a fitted one that would go with this.
