WIW A-Line Denim Skirt

I really like Brooklyn's a-line denim skirt looks, but it took me a while to find a skirt that suited me (at Zara). Here I have it with a Matison Stone top with cropped silk print overlay and longer jersey interior (which I have tucked in)(it's nowhere to be found on the web.) Also my Uterque cognac tassel tote and some rust suede slingbacks from Need Supply.

I like the outfit in the mirror, but less so in the photo. I'm thinking I should have worn either a higher heel or lower cut shoe and maybe tucked in more of the top. What do you all think?

Well, I think it looks fabulous! First off, you have enviably long slender legs and the (extremely cool, collectible) shoes are not super high contrast to your skin. Second, that skirt is clever and so much fun! I love the off-kilter frayed edge. The top is pretty and cohesive with your overall colouring. Looks perfect for a hot day. 70s retro at its best.

Is it hot where you are? Here it is weirdly cool today...ominous...

Ok, this is a denim skirt I could get on board with. I like it on you a lot. Not to be critical , but something is a little off here - it's not to your usual standards, or usual perfection I think the shoes could be the culprit - too high a vamp, and less to do with heel height. The top looks good to me - can't really comment on tucking more or less because it looks like a cropped top from the photo (I guess that's the overlay) . I'm thinking sneakers could make it look different - worth trying here? And are you the incredible shrinking woman? You're looking might lean and mean here Tell me how it's done!

(I did lose weight but I don't recommend the program: It's called my dog was sick and I had to make him canned dog food and water smoothies in the blender and feed them to him three times a day via syringe attached to a tube that went directly into the side of his neck for a period of about 10 weeks. The smell of the food and the overall process was a real appetite killer. Thankfully he is on the mend and getting his tube out tomorrow.)

I like it and, yet, if you're not feeling right about your shoe choice, what about a more open sandal or cage heel-type of shoe?

Fab look UmmLila! I don't mind the shoes with it at all, but if you feel like trying alternatives, I like the sound of Vicki's suggestion for a cage type shoe.

I'm liking the outfit exactly as is because the whole vibe of it is casual and active so the untucked shirt and the covered shoe look right to me. Tucked in would be less carefree and a higher heel or more exposed foot would look less action ready. The outfit is plenty flattering as is.
I think you look truly ready to go and the skirt is great.

This is more casual than I was expecting, but I really like it!
I like the slight flare on the skirt and the fun top. I dont think it needs to be tucked.

Sorry about your dog. Mine got their teeth cleaned last week ($$$) and one of them had an extraction and I've been soaking their kibble in water. It really smells awful.

You know, coming back to this and thinking about it a bit more (which I always do when I can't get a handle on an outfit) - it is perfect the way it is. The shoes are just a personal thing (I don't like a high vamp - but it's got nothing to do with anyone else) and I think I reacted the way I did because I don't see you in casual clothes like this very often , if at all. Again, super cute skirt, and it all looks great on you. I'm so sorry you and your dog had to go through that, and I'm pretty sure I would have reacted as you did.

Love that skirt, the asymmetry and fringe really appeal to me. I think this is a nice casual look. Maybe you could try it with a different style shoe but these orange ones are pretty awesome.

Love it. The skirt is perfect. I love the asymmetry and frayed edge. Now I will be on the lookout for something similar when the weather warms up. I would probably have gone for sandals (flat or heeled) but I think what you are wearing is a good casual, on the go type look. Sorry about your dog. I am glad he is on the mend. Looks super to me, that's a great skirt. I like the high vamp shoes and love the cropped top (as opposed to tucking) -- a much easier vibe, which is perfect for casual. Sandals would work, too. Good to hear your pup is on the mend!

Sorry about your dog. Pleased he is getting better.

I like the look a lot - it is a really fresh summer choice. I am also on the fence with the shoes but I suspect it is the photo - in reality you can see the skin at the back and they look lighter, in the pic looking down they look more autumnal and heavy and completely flat.

The skirt fits brilliantly and I think it will be a great summer item!

So sorry to hear what you've been going through while nursing your little fur baby back to health. Having been through that exact same thing, I truly empathize with you. It was traumatic.
