WIW 9/9: MaryK in the mall with diamonds

I love this top so much that I bought it in both cobalt and black! Today the black version is running Sunday errands: to the mall to return a million things each to Banana Republic and GAP, plus grocery shopping.

Denim clams: Paige
Black sandals: Naturalizer
Black tote: Coach via eBay

I am happy with this outfit, and also think it will be good for the upcoming Vietnam/Cambodia river cruise trip I've been angsting about. What say you all?

You look maaahhvelooouuss in black and diamonds and you're giving me good ideas for a potential trip to Thailand this Spring, although I'm such a germaphobe, that the only thing I'd change would be close-toes shoes.

To Vicki's point I'd go with more protective footwear as well (my BIL who lives in Thailand likes to send us photos of cobras, and other offensive critters so I'd cover my feet all the time if I were you) I realize the natives wear flip flops, but well...

Great outfit for running around. And I would agree this could be great for your holiday. Streamlined and comfortable but still stylih. Closed in shoes and its perfection.

Thanks, Suz! It was hot and more humid than usual here today, and I was reasonably comfortable running my errands. So this is definitely going into the mix for the trip.

Well the point about closed toe shoes is good for your trip, but this looks perfect for the mall from head to toe.

I had no idea Paige made denim knee shorts. When did you get these? This season, I could only find denim knee shorts from J Brand and I am wearing them 2-3 times a week. I think a fitted knee short is fashionable and age appropriate, casual and just a pinch of sexy so I'm very into them for hot weather.

So of course I am giving this outfit a 10, but not just for the knee shorts, also for the tonal color scheme. It's fun to see you in all black, while the diamond top and cute sandals still feel authentically MaryK.

Denise, these are from the Rack, last summer. They are actually dark-wash blue denim. I love them and wish I had a dozen pair in every color!

I have the same shorts in white and agree with MK I would buy more if I found them (mine are also from the Rack this year)

Fun outfit! My summer weekend formula has been Bermuda shorts, t-shirt, large bag, and sandals or a dress. And I do the same thing, I will often purchase two of the same top when I find one I like and it's a good basic.

This does look like a great outfit for you travel capsule, MaryK! It's nice to see your casual side. I can see so many different tops working with these shorts, maybe even something flowy for better heat control?

By the way, CocoLion and MaryK, have you checked out AG Malibu shorts? They are knee length (or longer, depending on your height), slim, and very rear-flattering. I found a pair in black on Ebay, and Anthropologie still has a whole bunch of them in polka dot patterns.
