WIW 9/21: Blazer/blouse/flats, casual edition ETA tweak

I am headed out to the salon again this morning to have a few stubbornly remaining curls vanquished. So my hair is totally unstyled and not looking its best -- please disregard it! Hopefully it will be looking better for my planned lunch date with my mom!

This is my version of Angie's blazer/blouse/flats look from the other day. None of my dressy work blouses seemed quite right with my flat boat shoes, so I busted out my plaid shirt and was pretty happy with how it turned out. The matchy-matchy aqua watch was just for fun, and the red bag for a little contrast.

Navy blazer: GAP

ETA: After looking at the pics, I decided that that "fashiony" buttoned-up-to-the-chin, surrendering-the-waist look was great on Angie and the model, but maybe notsomuch on me! Also changed out the aqua watch for a white one, largely because it's still super hot today and I wanted another summery element in the outfit. So picture 3 is how I actually left the house (still with the red bag). Better?

You pull off this combo with panache. It's something I haven't been able to master in 3+ years of trying, so my (imaginary) hat is off to you. Love the boat shoes!

I thought you looked fine in the first version. Then I saw the last one, and I thought you looked finer.

I agree that I like the white watch and unbuttoned shirt much better. The preppy plaid and boat shoes are awesome with that hipslung belt.

I struggle with the buttoned up tops, too. I always feel like my neck disappears into another dimension... :T It still feels like summer to me, too, and I wore my white watch just yesterday to my interview.

So have you had your hair chemically straightened? I would love to know. I have to straighten mine each day.

I love the shirt MaryK, and I am in the minority I think in preferring it sans belt as in pic#1.

Angie, you are so funny! I felt a lot more "me" once I added the belt and unbuttoned a couple of buttons on the shirt!

Deborah, I did indeed get my hair straightened via Brazilian blowout and am super happy with it despite the fact I had to go back for a second treatment after the first go-round left it unacceptably wavy in back. I could have kept flat-ironing it but for $300 (yikes!) I wanted the result that was promised and they were very nice about it at the salon. The best part so far is that it takes literally three minutes to blow dry! Love it!

I loved #3! Adding the bet exentuates the waist and shows off your lovely figure. I would trade the machy-machy accesories in #2 for some more demure ones to allow the plaid shirt to stand out more.
