WIW 8/29: Another dress and blazer

And thus ends the first week of dressing in a construction zone. Lessons learned:

1. Nothing beats a dress and blazer for simplicity and ease in the morning! If I weren't on a shopping freeze I would go out and buy a bunch more dresses.
2. Colors are tough! Can't go too light lest it show the dirt, but can't go too dark lest it show the dust! LOL

Today's entry is perfect because it's the color of construction dirt!

House report: Got home yesterday and they'd started the pergola over the master bedroom door! Woo-hoo!!

I really like it. The colors are low contrast with your lovely coloring. I really like the shoes and bag with it.

You are a trooper during construction. How long until it's done? It has to be hard to be in transition, but at least you have a super fab wardrobe to get you through.

Aw, thanks, Thistle! It's going to be a while yet. My goal is Thanksgiving but I will be suprised if everything is finished by then. I am telling everybody the housewarming party will be on Super Bowl Sunday, Feb 1 of next year. Surely it will all be complete by then! LOL

Although I will say my contractor and her team are amazing. It's been just one month since we started, and so far they have done the following:

Gotten permits for the whole project from the city
Replaced the roof
Replaced the driveway and patio
Removed the old front and back landscape and planted most of the new front landscape
Moved the centrai a/c unit from the patio to the side of the house
Refinished the hardwood floors throughout the house
Gutted the master bath and replaced the floor joists
Removed the wall between living room and dining room
Upgraded the electrical throughout the house and installed recessed lighting in every room (will be finished with that today)
Started installing new copper plumbing
Designed plan for new outdoor lighting
Framed new closet in master bedroom by stealing space from the den
Framed new sliding doors in the den
Chosen all the finishes for the master bath

And, as of yesterday, started the pergola/extension of the patio cover outside the master bedroom.

The mind boggles. And there have been workers here every single day, six days a week, since we started. This is utterly unprecedented in in my experience doing house projects.
