WIW 8/1: Amber Sun jacket from NAS (or The Lost is Found!)

When I first started getting interested in fashion, I found a trapeze-style teal jacket from Talbots at the consignment shop and wore it and wore it and wore it. (See photo 1 from late 2010.) Unfortunately I was still in the process of losing weight and it ultimately got too big and had to be passed on. I have been looking for a replacement for at least a year, with no luck.

Until.

The Amber Sun double-breasted jacket from the NAS is just the thing! It arrived on Tuesday and I couldn't wait to wear it! I feel like my old jacket friend is back from the grave!! Yay! I love it so much I am keeping both my old friend "teal," and the purple one!

I love both color combos! I wear cool tones better so am actually more drawn to number 1, but they are both hits. Yay for finding a lost love!
I would also like to see this with a fitted top underneath so that the boxiness could shine:)
Is this the Sm or the XS, if you don't mind me asking? I ordered the XS and am curious as to the fit.

Tina, this is the XS. I ordered both the XS and the S. The XS came first, and it's obviously The One, so the S isn't even coming out of the box.

It's like having a lost child come back home. What a feeling!
I used to have this high waisted, lace overlay pencil skirt that just got too old. I have never been able to find anything like it. I am tempted to have it made. I still look for one every season. There have been close contenders but none of them have been truly "high waisted'.
How are you liking the "new" Halogen skirts ? I noticed the fit changed a bit and the material feels a bit different.

I have a teal trapeze jacket that's quite similar to your old one. I've been mostly using it as light outerwear but you've inspired me to try it as a blazer alternative.

I bought the AS yesterday, but I think it's going back. I am 5'1", and I think that extra inch or two makes all the difference. This morning when reality set in, I tucked up the sleeves and bottom by an inch or so, and it looked so-o-o-o much better, and I think if the collar were slimmed by about 3/8 or 1/2 inch it would still give the oversize vibe but be better proportioned. Too bad it doesn't come in XXS. I think I will hit the internet to see if the same thing in a petite size is anywhere to be found.

Hey we are jacket twins! I love how you styled it MaryK -- teal and yellow look great together. I'll be watching you for more styling tips.

Regarding sizing -- I tried an XS and an S and ended up with the S. The XS was really pulling around the shoulders, although if I didn't move it looked fine.

I have a big smile on my face, because I also have that Talbot's jacket (altho in brown, a less versatile color - I can't believe I'm saying that) and thought that the AS jacket reminded me so much of it. Hooray for you! It's going to be a work horse, I just know it, and I shall live vicariously thru you and everyone else who can wear that jacket.

Sarah, it's because of you that I have this jacket! I somehow missed it on Angie's list of NAS picks, but then you posted it and, and I was instantly smitten and ordred it right that same minute!!

The sizing is just crazy, though. Usually I have to size up on jackets, but this XS is plenty roomy for me. Which means there are a whole lot of beautiful ladies such as yourself who are going to have to miss out because it's too big!

(And LOL about brown being less versatile than teal! I totally agree!!)

Can't beat a cool cropped jacket in my book and I am glad to see this style returning a bit. Lovely color! I know what you mean about replacing a favorite - I am hoping to stumble upon a boucle variation of a something similar to your new Amber Sun but with more of a lapel.

Heh. Charmian, I have WIW photos of almost every day for the past almost two years! It's fun to go back and see how my style has developed, and it's also good to browse when I'm out of ideas.

I ordered the new skirt in several colors and this one was the only one I kept. I feel like it makes me look a little wide in the hips, and that is not NOT generally an area of concern for me. Also it hugs the rear perhaps a bit more than I'd like for work.

I do like the (slightly) lighter-weight fabric, though, since I'm in a warm climate.

Yep, I ordered ii in 4 colors plus the colorblocked one. Sadly, they did not even make the K/R post. They are all going back, due to the fit differences you noted.
Too bad because the colors were AMAZING!

Ahh I remember that trapeze jacket, so glad you've found a worthy replacement! This is such a lovely, earthy rich color palette. LOVE the dark bag with this. I'm sure the purple jacket will get plenty of use, too!

I like the second outfit especially. It seems to have a more flattering line. And that does look like a fun jacket, for sure!

I am stalking a pair of Naturalizer wedge sandals that have a very similar vibe to shoes I bought when I was 17 and loved to death! Just waiting for the price to come down a bit more.

I love the new jacket and it looks great in this outfit. I had to consign a dress that I really loved but did not wear very often because it was just too short. Recently found nearly the same thing (different brand) but in the correct length. I know what you mean when you can replace something. Congratulations - you replaced and upgraded at the same time.
