I’m going to try post some weekly WIW summaries for a bit. I’m keen to explore why I choose my outfits and what I enjoyed about them. I am a mood dresser who considers the weather, daily practicalities and any particular vibe I want to project that day. I tend to think in full outfits so these may get repetitive as I go through the weeks but maybe sharing them will prompt me to get more creative!
My weeks will run Fri-Thu as I’m not working Fridays at the moment, so will try get in the habit of posting them on Friday morning.
Fri 7th Feb No WIW, only left the house to go to the personal trainer so wore gear or home clothes all day.
Sat 8th Feb – Photos 1 & 2 Was meeting someone for brunch in the city centre.
I’m trying to make sure I wear my summer dresses any time the weather co-operates and while this was a sunny day, I still needed another layer when I was outside. Khaki has been a surprise addition to my colour wheel over the last couple years but I feel it works well with my colouring. Really like how this jumper makes the outfit more casual and it is a good style for wearing over dresses as it doesn’t have a band at the bottom. White leather sneakers from Frankie4 (highly recommend this brand if you are looking for comfortable shoes in NZ/Australia) which kept my feet comfortable for some walking around.
Sun 9th Feb – Photo 3 We were attending an extended family afternoon tea and it was a beautiful warm day, no need for an extra layer that day!
This was a recent second hand addition to replace an old dress with a very similar pattern. The old dress felt a bit short for my current preferences and I am enjoying the midi length and looser style of this one. With a pop of pink this felt very fresh and summery.
Mon 10th Feb – Photo 4 A work outfit, was driving and didn’t need to leave the office during the day so could wear my block heeled shoes.
I like how the cream in the top picks up the cream in the skirt pattern. This skirt is very poorly made, I purchased a second one at the start of the year (both were second hand) as the first one got badly out of shape but I was still enjoying this particular outfit. Would be annoyed had I purchased the skirt full-price as it’s from a mid-range Australian brand so would have been $150-$200 NZD new.
Tue 11th Feb – Photos 5 & 6 A work outfit, was taking the bus, had to walk to a meeting with a client and it was a cooler day with a little bit of rain so needed a jumper.
It is a NZ made merino and possum jumper so nice and warm, it’s cropped plus I tuck it up into the waist tie to add some more definition. The silver pearl loafers go well with the white in the dress and I also wore pearl earrings.
Wed 12th Feb – Photo 7 A work outfit, was driving and not leaving the office so could wear something with a heel.
I still enjoy wearing a pencil skirt for work, although on Carla’s post on pencil skirts a few weeks ago, most said they don’t wear them much anymore. Worn with a cotton/silk blend navy tee and per Angie’s footwear trends for 2025, my peep toe mules fit right in! It can be a bit chilly in the air conditioning so had the same jumper as yesterday in my bag.
Thu 13th Feb – Photos 8 & 9 A work outfit, attending a presentation after work then out for dinner with DH. Needed an outfit that would feel comfortable across all those contexts plus had a topper option when it cooled down in the evening.
This dress worked well last winter with tights and tan boots and am enjoying it with the tan suede loafers as well, the pattern picks up tan well. Until last year I had never really worn blazers, my shoulders are my widest point, so I always felt unbalanced in them. In my eyes they still don’t work on every outfit but something like this where there the bottom isn't form fitting works well.
Overall I enjoyed all my outfits this week, all dresses and skirts which is my preferred style especially for work. Will continue to try to make the most of any opportunity to wear summer outfits – I have a couple of dresses that are at their best on warmer days so hopefully we will get a few more of them!
Any thoughts, styling ideas etc are appreciated.
