WIW 7/3: A little trendier in blue, white & red

The color palette of today's outfit was inspired by tomorrow's holiday. Since I knew there would be hardly any people at work (there were about 5 from 40), I dared to wear a trendier outfit - first outing of cropped flare navy BR pants to the new job. I have quite a few different cropped flare pants and I hope that i can wear them to work styled with more modern classic pieces.
I combined the pants with light blue poplin off-the shoulder blouse that I wore on the shoulders, white linen blazer, navy suede ankle strap shoes, bone bag and neckerchief in red, blue and white.

Thank you very much for your kind words, ladies. I have worn this top with these pants before, I quite like them together.

This outfit is about as trendy as I'd dare dress for the time being. I will see how things turn out in the future. Angie, I certainly hope that you are right and that I feel comfortable dressing more like myself as I get more established at work.

Sterling, I have had the stone BR bag for a couple of years, but I did not carry it too often. It has three compartment, the side ones are zippered, the middle one is open. I could fit a smaller laptop in the middle compartment, or even a medium one if I don't mind it sticking out a little.

Elegant, relaxed, chic. Interesting to see the top works well on the shoulders. I have been a bit confused by those when I see them in the stores and haven't tried any on.

Simple, calm, flattering, another great outfit.

In my experience, most people are not interested in fashion and don't notice trousers's hems, what's trendy or not...they notice loud things (big prints, bright colours, very unusual shapes) and skin showing/body revealing attire.
Some women are into shoes or bags or jewellery and will focus on that.

But most of all, co-workers seem to have antennae to detect what feels contrived or what feels natural to you.
When I started working, I wore suits, to look serious and professional, nobody else did and I had lots of mocking comments about my clothes.
This year I wear suits again, in the same environment, no one commented on the change. I think it's because now I don't wear the suit as armour to hide in, but like the most simple, practical option for office wear.

I finally got a bit more modern and have found the blazer- cropped/ ankle pant to be a brilliant combo. The more trendy pants salvaged some of my more conservative jackets and led to new wearable " 3rd piece" outfits for when I want the whole outfit as for going to a conference or lunch meeting, , and vice versa- a jacket helped me balance my pear shape with some of the new pants.
