WIW 7/15 and 7/16: Swap Goodies!

1-5: Last night we went to the Hollywood Bowl and I got to bust out some of my finds from the So Cal swap! These are my first-ever premium denim jeans and I don't think I am ever going back! (*waving at Denise*) Plus, how cute is this hoodie?! Perfect for a chilly evening outdoors!

Jeans: 7 for All Mankind (swap)
Hoodie: swap
Sequined tank: JC Penney via eBay
Sandals: Target
Black tote: Coach via eBay

6. Today I couldn't wait to wear this green dress from Land's End Canvas, also from the swap! It's great with my Rocket Dog multicolor pumps, purple belt, and "candy" necklace that was a gift from Ornella! White tote from eBay.

MaryK, of course you look fab, but I can't believe you of all people haven't owned premium denim before now! It is very easy to pick up at consignment stores, sometimes even hemmed to the right length.

I was also shocked - shocked! - that you had no premium denim. And look at your cutie bootie in #3! I would be hooked on premium after that, too.

MK you really know how to put great outfits together. I'm curious - what makes premium denim better than, say, middle-of-the-road denim?

I never even tried on a pair of premium denim jeans because I just couldn't imagine spending That Kind of Money on jeans. (Keep in mind I have a dressy job and can only wear jeans off-hours. And it's hot here in the summer so make that "only off-hours and not usually in the summer.")

But. Oh my good lord.

First of all, these 7FAM jeans are super soft. And still substantial enough to hug where they need to hug. But goodness gracious they don't hurt anywhere! And I do think they make my bootay look pretty bootaylicious! And I love the wash. And did I mention the "bootaylicious" thing?

You were meant for those jeans. Totally Bootaylicious! Yes you are now on the dark side. Premium denim can be addicting, but when you find the right pair and they feel so good and look this good. Well it's gotta be.

Pure awesomeness! I love the new jeans on you, and the sequined top and hoodie are fab. That new green dress is super-duper gorgeous too--LOVE!

I still won't pay large sums for denim, but I have come to realize that some lower-priced premium brands are worth it to me (Paige was my gateway denim :). It's all about the pocket placement, man. Good pocket placement = bootyliciousness to the max.

A swap is super simple, at least the way we do it. We bring our closet orphans -- clothes, shoes, accessories -- hang 'em up on racks and lay 'em out on tables, then we all drink a Mimosa or two and then we dive in and start trying stuff on. If something fits and we like it, we take it home. Badda bing, badda boom. You may end up with one item or a hundred, from Forever 21 or 7 for All Mankind. It's super fun and super unpredictable!

Lurrve the styling of that green dress --- it is absolutely sensational on you, even if the jeans are more va-va-voom; the dress is more subtle sexy. Both fun ways to go, of course!

So glad you love your "new" 7s! They look much better on you than on me. I am so glad they have found a new home, seriously.

I think I am going to start another swap pile right now of things that just don't quite make it on me. I have plenty of them. It feels very satisfying to see something work (better) on someone else.

I have your new white shirt in the wash (got pet hair on it already, kitty climbed in my suitcase before I could unpack) -- I just noticed it's from J Crew! Thanks a million, I think it far outshines my $17 Costco shirts.

That teal dress is just beautiful for you Mary! Gorgeous with the white and purple (and the printed pumps are SO fun). I also haven't owned (or tried) any proper premium denim, but as fellow Team Riveting Rearsider I must say that #3 is making me reconsider. And I DO wear denim a LOT....
