WIW 6/5: Another casual shorts outfit with a length question

This past Sunday I attended another casual picnic in the park. This time the weather was cooler and overcast, with possibilities of rain (and it did indeed pour, but luckily we had a covered shelter). Since we were planning to play sports (volleyball, Frisbee), sneakers were necessary.
I wore my workhorse Paige denim shorts, Ted Baker printed tee semi-tucked in the shorts with silver studded belt and blue snakeskin sneakers.
Since we were having all these discussions on the forum lately about shorts flattery, I am also attaching a photo of the outfit already posted, from a picnic a week before this one. I am curious to hear which shorts do you think are more flattering on me: the longer and more fitted denim Paige pair in photo #1 or shorter and baggier olive Gap pair in photo #2?

I like both outfits. I think the longer fitted shorts sound perfect for a day that might be a bit cooler and the baggier, shorter ones are perfect for a hot day. I think you have nice legs and both lengths are flattering. I love your hat in #2 - it matches the outfit so perfectly.

Another fabulous shorts outfit, Tanya. I echo, Sara. Both outfits are as flattering, and it will probably depend on the weather.

The denim shorts are more unique. I see many more people wear that style of olive shorts - and shorter - around here. Not sure if it's like that where you live too.

I think both are great. I probably would roll the denim shorts up one more roll, like in the Finds model shot, and then they would be perfect (in my view).

I think the proportions of Outfit 2 are a bit more pleasing to my eye because in #1 the clothing seems almost to be half and half (half top half bottom). I am sensitive to this because of my shorter legs and always look for ways to diminish the effect. Having said that, here is is not unflattering because you have styled it all so expertly. That is what I aim for and sometimes fail to achieve with my bermuda length shorts. I think they work best when slim and/or cuffed like yours.

I think both look wonderful on you, however I do have a preference for the second one. I like the variety in the proportions, rather than the almost an equal third third third with your top, shorts, legs. Not to be creepy, but I like seeing more of your legs, too

I like both. I have a slight preference for the second but they may be because I prefer the colours of that outfit. I have been looking for olive shorts like that for ages. I sighed when I read Angie's comment that the olive shorts are common in her area. Not here!

They give a different vibe - the first one look more urban and the last one more relaxed to me - which is a good thing, you have variety.

Thank you so much for your input, everyone! It seams that there are two groups, one that thinks both outfits are equally flattering, and the other that prefers the shorter olive shorts. I will admit that the shorter shorts are probably more conventionally flattering, since they expose more leg skin and especially with lower vamp low contrast shoes vs.sneakers of the first outfit. However, I feel more comfortable in the denim shorts because they cover more and only resort to the olive shorts when it is very hot.
