WIW 6/30: Red, white and blue at the VIP mixer

This afternoon Hubby and I went to a "VIP Mixer" party at the home of an attorney of my acquaintance. Lots of judges, lawyers, and elected officials. They were kind enough to feature a photo of last year's event on the invitation, and it was plainly "chic summer dresses" for the ladies.

I decided that nothing could be more appropriate for an event on a hot day than my vintage 60s sleeveless button-front dress with the navy and white polka dot top and white bottom. Believe it or not in this VIP crowd, all my accessories were super cheap, but I think it worked anyway. What do you think?

Thanks, ladies! I was surprised to see that many of the other ladies were wearing what I would consider to be more cocktail-type dresses, even though the event was from 4 to 8 p.m. and it was full daylight the whole time. That was probably the plurality, with the rest split between summer day dresses and full-on business casual or even business formal pants and skirt ensembles. However I still felt good in my outfit and like I wasn't trying too hard, you know? So I'll put it in the "win" column!
