WIW 5/6 to the design house

Today I went with some friends to the local Showcase House of Design, which is basically a shelter porn magazine come to life! I wanted to look chic but not like I was trying too hard, and I think I pulled it off nicely.

White skinnies: Kut from the Kloth
Aqua/cobalt/white gingham shirt: Target boys' dept.
Blue sweater vest: Talbots
Black/brown wedge sandals: Payless
White/black/brown colorblock bag: Vince Camuto
Owl pendant: Local teenybopper boutique

I love the pants, top, vest and Owl. Constructive criticism for what it's worth: I'm thinking the sandals are competing with the shirt pattern because they read (in the photo at least) as another graphic pattern. I get that the bag, pendant and shoes were kind of one grouping and the others we another, but I would have preferred a solid bag with this I think. I love all the pieces and you are a fearless combiner. Hope you enjoyed the showcase - I used to work those and they were a total snooze from my end except for the fashion review of the people coming through so at least you made somebody's day!

Interesting, Jj! I guess my take on it was "blue on top, black/white/brown on the bottom!"

I was kind of limited in shoe choices because the design house allows "flat shoes only." Maybe my plainer black sandals would have been better.

And yes! I loved the showcase! Total shelter porn, live and in person! And I did feel kind of sorry for the people herding the guests through the rooms!

I like this Angie-inspired formula! (When I see tanks worn as vests, I think Angie!) You've inspired me to try something like this myself, before the heat is unbearable.

Great outfit! I adore the layering you did here. Thinking about today's blogpost, I'd love to see this top remixed with black bottoms and a denim blazer/jacket in an outfit remix sometime too.
