WIW 5/15 and 5/16: Brights in the heat

It has been blisteringly hot here the past few days and I'm wearing my lightweight work gear in nice bright summer colors.

1. I had planned to wear a different jacket but the red one jumped out of the closet and wanted to join the party and I didn't have the heart to refuse.

Navy skirt: J Crew
Mint tee: Target
Red blazer: H&M
Necklace: Veronica M
Brown pumps: Jessica Simpson
Turquoise tote: thrifted

I thought about wearing red shoes but it seemed too matchy so I chose brown to match the brown in the necklace and was happy with that choice.

2/3. This blazer is new this year and is getting a lot of wear. I hope the oversized shape makes up for the so-2012 close-to-the-body skirt and tee.

This faux straw tote is a couple of years old but I love it for hot summer days. Plus I love it extra much because I bought it on a shopping trip with Angie in Pasadena!

Braving the heat in style Mary! I too like the brown shoes with #1; it grounds the necklace nicely (COOL piece btw), and lets the red jacket be more of a star. I also quite like the second look, fitted base outfit and all. That's a great blazer! Sometimes you just need one updated element to keep a look current

#2 is absolutely something I would wear I adore it! Simple and my favorite color combo. I like it with or without the jacket.

I so wish I had turquoise top to do it, because that first look is absolutely divine. The other two are mega-fab too (bold stripes have me swooning), but my eye keeps gong back to the first one. Is it the combination of colours, the red blazer, that bag.

Both of these are crisp and pack a punch. Love aqua/red always, and your silhouette makes it perfect for the office. #2 has a subtle french maritime vibe. You're a master at bringing in one new item to refresh the classic tee and pencil shape --- which is in a very classic tailored fit that never goes "out of style."
