WIW 5/14: Navy and tan for a hot day

Temps are supposed to be in the triple digits today, so I busted out a cotton skirt and linen blouse to try and beat the heat, along with my beloved non-flatform sandals!

Tan pencil skirt: Halogen
Linen top: consignment
Striped blazer: AT Loft
Nude sandals: Franco Sarto
"Straw" bag: GAP

This blazer is one of Angie's picks (I think) from a year or two ago and it's been a real wardrobe workhorse. Do you think this still looks current, or do you have any suggestions to bring it more into 2014?

Tiple digits or not, you look as cool as a glass of iced tea and ready for anything. This is a look I'd love to copy--it's just that I'd need to go shopping.

It may get to triple digits here today as well.

I don't think the jacket looks dated at all, very modern classic. The shoes are fun. I wore my platforms just last week with a flared skirt and felt like it gave the look a little bit of an edge. (edge for Colorado mind you, lol!)

Joy, yes. We have very low humidity almost all the time, which is what saves us! When I go someplace with high humidity I just melt!

You look great. I'm not seeing the contrast tipped blazers as much anymore in stores, so they aren't in the forefront of trendiness anymore, but I definitely see people wearing them still. Plus it seems very in line with your style sensibility. You could always try it with cropped pants and/or ankle strap shoes!

I love tan and navy togehter for the Summer and know all too well the melting feeling of high humidity... While our temps have been unseasonably warm the humidty hasn't come with it, so not at sweltering...

Love this outfit. Striped blazers had their moment a couple years ago but I think it's a classic or close enough to a classic.

You do look as cool as a cucumber. I must admit, if it were that hot here, I wouldn't even think of a jacket, and would likely be in a sleeveless top, in a light colour.

I think the blazer is a modern classic so not dated and I like your pairing with the tan. I just bought a navy and white striped M. Kors blazer on deep markdown and can't figure out what to pair it with yet so this helps! .
We are having a heat wave in Northern California this week too although high 90's is high enough for me! Stay as cool as you look!

The jacket looks good to me, a bit preppy a bit classic. The outfit is good, too. Triple digit weather... now that I can do without. Some other ideas for the blazer: pointy pumps or ankle strap shoes, starker style contrasts with the supporting casts, and pastels are extra fun with b&w.
