WIW 5/13: Adding drama with high contrast and bold patterns

I didn't realize until after I'd gotten dressed today that today's outfit kind of illustrates Angie's blog post today! I guess the gingham-and-floral in the bright and saturated shades of blue, with the bright white shoes and blazer and contrasting yellow bag, is pretty dramatic, eh?

Floral pencil skirt: Halogen
Gingham shirt: Target (boys' dept)
White blazer: NYC&Co
White pumps: Jessica Simpson
Yellow bag: Tignanello

I wish my skirt were more contrasty, like the inspiration pic, but I still am having fun with fashion in this outfit! I always appreciate your thoughts!

Love it! How fun. I wonder if you could do a version of this outfit adding a touch of red somewhere, playing off the inspiration photo. Since red isn't in your skirt, I was thinking you might just add it. I like your soft version, though, with the whites and yellow touches of blazer, shoes, and bag.

Looks great! I think white accessories are dramatic - in some ways more than black because they are less common.

I think you're going to find that a lot of your outfits have elements of drama. Sort of a new way to think about your style--dramatic!

I was going to suggest a different color shoe, and then I saw the picture with the white blazer, a perfect match for the bold drama of the shoe. For some reason the bright white really downplays the prints here and it all works so well. Such a happy pattern mixing look. I don't remember seeing this skirt before, it looks like a great piece to remix. Maybe with a denim or chambray shirt? Or with a white t and your Birks?
