This post does a great job reflecting how I usually dress in the lab vs. how I wish I could. Both the reality (#1 and #2) and the fantasy (#3) outfits are built around the slim high waisted bottom + cropped boxy white top formula, but they couldn't be more different.
The fantasy outfit is dressy and consists of black high-waisted pencil skirt (H&M), cropped boxy shirt (BR), burgundy Okalas (SE) and burgundy clutch (BR). It is a couple of levels too dressy for the lab, plus skirts are not allowed in the first place, and real heels are impractical.
The reality outfit consists of very high waisted dark skinnies (Express), cropped white knitted top (BR), flat pointy sneakers (Trouve) and more practical satchel (RM). Then there is a grey knitted bomber (BR) and white scarf added for warmth, and hair pulled in a pony tail - another requirement when working with chemicals.
