WIW 4/25: Orange and cobalt

Today is another gray day so I am trying to inject some color into the proceedings! As usual I like it better without the jacket, but I just don't feel like I can set foot into my workplace without a blazer! LOL What do you think of the not-quite-matching blue skirt and jacket?

Cobalt pencil skirt: Halogen
Navy blazer: GAP
Blue oxford button-front shirt: Target
Orange striped sweater: J Crew
Nude shooties: Seychelles
Megapearl pendant: Asos

What do I think? I LOVE it. That orange and cobalt is divine! I like it best sans blazer too but I think the non-matching blazer totally works too : ) You are looking uber fab, MaryK. Your post pushes me ever closer to buying that cobalt skirt that is currently marked down--if it was only machine washable.

It works! A light-colored blazer might be better but you still look super fab. Love the leg lengthening abilities of those Seychelles!

My cobalt skirt just arrived on the doorstep! I think it's too close to the color of my Blue Depths version, but at the sale price, i wanted to compare.
I am not sure about the navy blazer with your outfit. I think it may be the intensity of color in skirt and orange sweater, although I like the light blue of the shirt with it. Actually, the more I look at it, the more I like it.

I like this both ways - before looking at the pics I wondered if the cobalt would be too overpowering, but I would totally wear it all. And, yeah, even though my workplace is more relaxed now, I still feel a little weird without a blazer.

Oh this totally works with the navy blazer, MK! I love the orange sweater on you, and the cobalt of the skirt is a 'color' and the navy of the blazer is a 'neutral' in my book. So you are following everything to the letter of the law, lol!

Very nice and cheerful! Though I thought the weather was always nice in MaryK-land.

Oh yes, without the blazer it's gorgeous. But I also like it with the blazer and understand how it feels better for the workplace.

Love the color combination. That orange looks fantastic with the blue skirt. The blazer color works with the outfit but what bothers my eye is that it's hiding your fantastic figure. I do have a poison eye for waist surrender so take it with a grain of salt.

Yes yes yes!!! I'm in love with these colours together - and I like the fact that the blues don't quite match - much more interesting. I also love the nude shoe - gorgeous as always missy!

Very nice! Love it absolutely. Skirt is perfect length. Looks awesome with the footwear. And the sweater! Punchy, lively, fun. You have styled it with taste too.

I am not so hot on the blazer with the rest... It's the Cobalt + Navy that bothers me.

I understand needing to show up with blazer. Are you allowed to remove it once you are in your office?

Denise, I absolutely remove it in the office. I have a coat rack in the corner of my office and I hang up my jacket on a hanger, and then hang the hanger on my coat rack, so everybody who comes in can see that I do indeed own a jacket and did indeed wear it to work!

MaryK I do love this outfit. Fabulously happy colors. I realise I am in the minority here but I think the jacket is not the best (I understand you will remove it in the office).
To my eye there is an element of dowdiness that enters the picture with the jacket, it is sort of dull over the beautiful colors. Perhaps a coat or trench would be a better option.

I love it most without the jacket, too, but to my eye it works with jacket as well...just not as..um...brilliantly!

Love the orange and cobalt together. I'd prefer if the jacket was lighter in color than the skirt. The dark jacket seems too top heavy here. Especially since the rest of the outfit is light, even the shoes. Fab shoes!

Gorgeousness! I love the orange and blue, and those are the perfect shoes for the look!! That sweater is so cute, and I love how you've layered a chambray top underneath.
