WIW 4/19: Vintage neon with gray

I was early for an appointment a couple of days ago and killed a little time in a vintage boutique nearby. Among other fab finds (stay tuned) I found this ridiculously fantastic neon-colored floral print pussy-bow blouse for $10! Amazing!

When I got it home I found it harder to style than I expected, because when I paired it with other brights I started feeling like a 1970s stewardess. Finally had the idea to pair it with gray and voila!

Gray flared pants: YLF swap

Gray belt: Target
Pink patent pumps: Kate Spade
Yellow bag: Dooney & Bourke

Great idea to pair the vintage blouse with gray pants! Love the colors on you, but I think I like it better without the jacket.

Now THAT is some blouse! No coffee needed in the morning when wearing that beauty! It's gorgeous MaryK (and I can hardly wait to so what else you scored from this store). I love it with the grey and of course, your hot pink shoes peeking out from underneath.

Nice! I think you're right to tone it down with gray so the blouse does the talking. Rute's idea of pairing with white or cream is also worth a try.

Una, it's a specialty vintage store. They have the most. amazing. things. and the prices are really good -- I got this blouse, two dresses, and a leather belt for $94 total. They aren't online but I found a blog entry that gives a good description: http://www.christenbphotography.com/?p=2095

Jilly, I almost always like my outfits better without the jacket, too, but I work in a fairly formal setting and the men at my level wear coats and ties every day. So I feel like the jacket is pretty necessary. It spends most of the day hanging on a hanger on the coat rack in the corner of my office so everybody knows I know I'm supposed to wear a jacket, but I don't have to, you know, actually wear it all day! LOL

I love the blouse but it's a tough one to integrate into your wardrobe. I am so impressed that you have managed to totally make it your own. On some people that blouse would wear them but not you. Love it!

That blouse is far out! I love it, MaryK! The wide leg pants are awesome, and I really like how you played everything else down and let the blouse kind of take center stage. Very clever! You look bright and fun!

FUN, especially with the pink shoes! Fab wide leg trousers, and I like Rute's suggestion to try pairing with cream as well. I used to have a vintage blouse quite a lot like this many years ago, ahh so good ^^

And wow! This outfit got me a lot of attention today! People at work whom I barely know commented on it, and a lady stopped me in the frozen food aisle at Trader Joe's after work to say "I love your brights -- especially your shoes!" LOL

These colors look so wonderful on you! Yes grey is that perfect counterpoint to the loudness of neons. Soul sucking beige works great with brights as well.
