WIW 3/8: Brunch with CocoLion and a funeral

1. I got to have brunch with the lovely Denise today on her way out of town, and I decided to show off the fab yellow skinnies she passed on to me! Big fun on a rainy day!

Yellow skinnies: Else
Blue oxford shirt: Target
Striped sweater: J Crew
Taupe boots: Nine West
Colorblock tote: Vince Camuto

2. This afternoon I am going to a funeral for a lovely 90-plus-year-old lady who was beautifully stylish up to the end, so I wanted to look nice as well as respectful. How did I do?

Black skirt: thrifted
Black and white jacket: Kate Spade
Black bird-print blouse: Comptoir Des Cotonniers
Black tights: Target
Black pumps: Madden Girls
same bag because my raincoat is brown

I would ordinarily have worn non-shiny shoes with this outfit, but we will be walking on grass and these patent pumps won't sink into the grass as the non-shiny options would have. I hope my late friend will understand!

P.S. My hair is limp and lank because I got it straightened this morning. It should bounce back in a few days!

We had a grand old time! This was actually our second meetup of the week! We met for Happy Hour on Monday, which was big fun (except for the part where I dropped my iPhone in the, uh, water in the ladies' room on the way out of the restaurant LOL). Denise said she had to leave early Friday so I suggested breakfast since I had the day off.

After some confusion about what "early" meant, we met in a cute coffee shop in Eagle Rock (which I always think of as the Brooklyn of Los Angeles) and had breakfast and a great chat about fashion and other girl-type topics! She looked super amazing in an off-white lightweight sweatshirt, denim vest, and black leather jacket!

It was a gorgeous day with snow on the foothills, pretty clouds, and just enough rain to keep it interesting! I just love YLF meetups! *happy sigh*

Oh no, MaryK! Your phone! Does it still work? My son tried putting his in a sealed ziplock bag full of dry rice. It seemed to work, lucky for him. I never did hear the full story, but I think it had to do with mud-sliding in the campus quad during Hurricane Sandy. No wonder I went gray early!

Oh, I forgot to say that yes, I sealed my phone in a Ziploc with rice for thee days (the longest three days of my life LOL) and it's fine now!
