wiw: 3/7 cropped top over longer shirt and boxy over boxy

I decided to try the cropped top over longer top look. The cropped top is from Topshop. The base layer is from AT. thee jeggings are 'dear john' and the wedge booties are Geox.

I am not sure I like the look as is. A more fitted cropped top may look better? My IT/apple is so prominent with this look.

The second look: From marks and spencer I got this pullover over tunic 'cheater' version of boxy over boxy! I like it but still from a vanity perspective I prefer one top only.... rather than layered looks. But I am making an effort to embrace the trend!

Last few pics are of my preferred silhouette. I really like the idea of boxy and asymmetrical hems, etc but apples need to be careful with this look.

Ah well.

I actually don't mind the boxy over boxy on you in #4. Looks good. In #1 to #3 though I can't help feeling that I think your cropped sweater could do with being more cropped for the proportions to work. Maybe that's why you're not keen as it could be hitting you in the wrong place. You look great in #5 and #6.

You look good in 1-4 as the boxy-boxy look, but what Diane G said--for cropped my sense is we need to go shorter! Above where the waist would be.
The fluid top in 5-6 is gorgeous on you.

Man...I just looked at MaryK's awesome version of cropped over long and I feel like deleting this post. I am the poor cousin here but oh well....

I love your regular version and see why you are more comfortable with it. The boxy over boxy is good too. A shorter cropped top may be the answer.

I think you look great! I see the point about the cropped sweater being shorter, and what about a slightly lower contrast between the sweater and the shirt? Certainly you are no one's poor cousin, you look very elegant in all!

No… not the "poor cousin" at all! You look terrific. It is just more similar to the "boxy over boxy" ensemble, which is fab all on its own. Love that white top. It is stunning on you.

Sona, well done. This is more the look of the "boxy under boxy" ensemble, because the jumper isn't cropped short enough. But you nailed your version of the other look you were challenged with - so I'm extra proud of you. xo

Sona, I love your fluid look in 5 and 6, which is so pretty, effortless and dramatic. Looks like I'm seeing a cropped-over-boxy trend here on YLF and I like 1-3.

I like the cropped version the way you did it, I prefer your version to the very short one. I also like the one with the flower top.

Sona, whether or not these fit the official descriptions doesn't matter -- because you look great! I can easily understand why you love the last look best -- but it's not a figure flattery issue (to my mind) -- it's that the pure simplicity of that outfit lets you shine and shine.

Whatever you call it you look great but I have to admit the last two with the white sleeveless top are my favorite - stunning!

Wow, you glow in 5 and 6 Sona. I would never think "apple" looking at any of these looks, though, so if that's a concern, you finessed it beautifully. (I notice the apple tendencies around my middle no matter WHAT I wear, though!!) Good for you for trying some new silhouettes. I am kind of shy about doing that.

I love the look of 1-3 on you, Sona and of course think that 5&6 are divine. Trying out a more cropped topper for 1-3 looks may be great, too, but don't let that dissuade you from wearing them as they are as well!

Both look like lovely boxy/boxy outfits! Get a super cropped sweater and I think your legs will look 1,000,000 in the cropped look.
