WIW 3/23-3/26: Catching up in Reverse Order

I've been so busy with my son visiting that I haven't had a chance to keep up with my posting, although I have been taking photos, at least! Here's the recap, in reverse chronological order:

1. Today I walked to work because my son bought a car yesterday (!!!) and so he parked in my one parking spot in the Fashionable Downtown Apartment Building, and we left my car parked at my workplace, which is just half a mile away. Hence the ballet flats, which actually have a little 1/2" wedge.

2. I feel like this outfit looked better in person than it does in the photo -- I've been staying up too late having fun with my boy and it kinda shows!

Pink pumps: Kate Spade

3. High happiness factor for this one! I love citron with black and white!

4. Sunday I just lazed around the house most of the day. Still loving the white loafers!

Aqua skinnies: Levi's, thrifted (men's)
White loafers: Munro

I can see my "uniform dressing" strategy is in full force these days with the pencil skirt/blazer/pumps combo. But at least it keeps me decently covered when life gets hectic! Thanks for looking! And I always appreciate your comments!

Late nights haven't taken their toll on you one bit. My gosh, you look as fresh faced as a teenager, especially in #4. All of these are wonderful. I especially love #3. Oh, and I really, really love your purse collection!

I like your outfits with the pencil skirts, MaryK, particularly
the 2nd one. The scarf is very pretty and pulls all the colors
together. Hey, nothing wrong with formulas that work! I strongly believe in
them myself. No need to reinvent the hot water.

It was helpful to me that you mentioned these were Halogen
skirts. One would think it should be easy to find a pencil skirt, but it really
isn’t. I came across a Halogen skirt in the Rack some time ago. I liked it very
much and I was looking at others on Nordstrom’s site. Your pictures confirm my
opinion about these pencil skirts being a dependable good fit. The only weird
part is that the skirt I did buy is a size 6, but when I look at the measurements
online for the VERY SAME skirt, it looks like I should buy 8 or even 10! While
I’ve been buying some 8’s lately (unfortunately), I’m yet to buy a 10. I guess
I could (maybe even a 12), but I can’t really afford those.;-) Same goes for
all measurements online, though… I just don’t understand what the deal is –
what is it that they measure and what do I do differently?! There are a couple
of other cases I’ve noticed just like that – the actual piece of clothing I
bought from a brick-and-mortar store is a 6, but if I were to buy it online,
they’d make me believe I need to order AT LEAST an 8. I just don’t get it…

JAileen, it's not owls on the scarf, it's C's for Coach. I couldn't find a photo online, but here's a wallet with the same print. It's from a few years ago and they call it "Pop C."

MaryK, could you please tell me what you think about the sizes of those Halogen skirts? Do you think your measurements match the size listed on their size chart? Is that the size you buy?

I buy my regular size, which is size 2, and it fits fine even though my waist measurement is significantly bigger than the number on the size chart. Hope that helps!
