WIW 3/19: Checks and flowers on a gray day

Winter (or what passes for winter) is back here so I wanted to be cozy. The pants are flannel and although you can't really see it in the photo, they are gray and black micro-checks. The floral shirt is a favorite from my early days at YLF.

Gray pants: Express
Floral silk blouse: Hinge
Gray ponte jacket: Halogen
Red patent pumps: Madden Girl
Red tote: Dooney & Bourke
Gray belt: Target

I feel comfy and warm in this outfit. What say you? Thumbs up?

Ooh I love the sound of flannel pants, they must be so cosy. Wonderful outfit, MaryK, I love the 3 different greys combined with your red accessories and then the lovely floral print on your blouse. Also loving the idea of the pattern mixing with the microcheck, subtle and fun.

Yes, Angie, I have my hair professionally straightened. It costs a fortune and it lasts about three months. Totally worth it because it cuts my getting-ready time in the morning to almost nothing!

Exactly, Mary. My hair costs a small fortune every 6 weeks too. I'm not going to be penny wise and pound foolish on this, though. My hair is *so* much part of my style. It's my #1 accessory even before my specs. High five!

Love how you've paired the subtle pattern on the pieces with the most presence and then added the accent with the patterned blouse red shoes and bag! The shoes especially are such a great colour. Red isn't my fav colour to wear(doesn't work well with my complexion), but I especailly love my red shoes !

Between the straightening and the cuts and the every-three-weeks color touchups, my colorist (who owns the salon) recently told me I was in the top five clients of the whole salon. I didn't know whether to be honored or horrified!

Love the outfit and ditto on hair as part of "tha" style. I never skimp on a good haircut and put the time and effort into styling it. Fab clothes do not go with clumsy hair.

The Hinge blouse is a workhorse, I have seen it work in several, even many, of your outfits. I think it still deserves a place in your closet (not that you were asking). Love the pants on you, they make you look tall. And the bag brightens the outfit just a red bag should!

Love the colorful top with the neutral jacket and trousers. I like the detail the buttons on the jacket add. Of course, you bag is fantastic! It brightens up the whole outfit.

I just love how the bag makes such a happy statement. I love the print on the blouse and the double-breasted jacket. Are those skinny jeans or slim trousers. Either way I love the look.

A, my salon actually has a buy 5, get one free deal! You buy a card for five services and they stamp it each time, then the sixth one is free. Gotta love it! I haven't been able to bring myself to spend four figures up front for five Brazilian blowouts, though!

I remember that shirt. I always loved it. It is so freakin' versatile ! The outfit is great...I especially love how you pulled out the red by adding the red purse and shoes. It was a cold, sleet-filled day here. Very gray too.

What I noticed was how you somehow managed to get the proportions or whatever it is to make the open double vested jacket look just right. You belted the trousers, wore the right heels, performed magic, not sure what, but you look fantastic!
