WIW 3/18: Saturated Pastels - YouLookFab Forum

I'm not a pastel person. Washed out colors make me look washed out. But I do like bright colors, and there's a certain range of pastel-ish ones that I quite like.

I bought this scarf and these earrings a year and a country apart, and yet they go together so very well.

I was trying to blend winter and spring. Does it work? I wore this top with a different (heavier, wool) grey skirt not long ago and liked it a lot. This was an attempt

On a related note, I very much relate to others' posts about not being sure what "their colors" are. I look best in both jewel tones and earth tones, both black and brown. Can I be a winter solstice? Is that a thing?

I like the color combo. I wonder whether you might want to tie the scarf in a more modern fashion. Maybe tie the ends together to make a faux infinity scarf. Or just leave the scarf looped around your neck and hanging free on both sides. I like the way your top matches your glasses! Love the color combo and I agree about the scarf thing with others. I am no expert myself but I think its a bit too tight around the neck and a little looser might work better. Love your earrings too.

I am not sure about seasons and coloring. I will leave that to the experts.

o-o... fabness alert! The scarf, the specs, the clothes, the HAIR... Lots of great stuff here, but I'd maybe play them a bit differently.

The top itself has an interesting neckline that flatters you and hardly anything but some short necklace would not clash with it. I think it's beautiful enough to be left to shine on its own.

The grey lace skirt - gorgeous. It never occurred to me that lace skirts can be pretty in many other colours but black and you have just educated me to the point of thinking non-black lace skirt is a must in my wardrobe.

The top and skirt look really nice together. The colour lover in me loves this low contrast unexpected combination surprisingly much. The minimalist in me thinks that your funky hair, fabulous specs, top, skirt and metallic shoes make a substantial outfit.

The scarf is so pretty and interesting that it alone needs to be worn to be the star of the show. Check some new methods to tie it, wear with the top that has simple neckline and voila - it will shine as it deserves.

Finally - yes, you can be winter solstice, of course. If it wasn't a thing, you've just invented it

Gorgeous teal color looks great on you- esp with your hair. I would like to see the skirt and top minus the scarf AND maybe with the top tucked in. You have a fab waist that I think would really benefit from tucking. To me- the scarf is one that needs to be the standout piece and is competing with the lovely top and skirt. Plus- I really like monochromatic.

I love how the scarf brightens your whole outfit. And I didn't realize how short you hair was. It's had to pull off short hair, but you are rocking it.

I like how the scarf adds a "pop of colors" to the deeper tones of the rest of the outfit. I agree with others suggesting you experiment with how you tie the scarf. There's a great video on youtube showing something like 50 different ways to tie a scarf in less than 2 minutes. You should check it out. It's pretty cool and full of good scarf tying ideas.

...and I am smitten with those earrings! What are they made of? They look like pressed flowers.

Perhaps it's the shading in the pictures, but I don't find that the scarf and the colors in the rest of the outfit go well together. It's the mint in the scarf combined with the teal that bugs me. But then maybe I am weird. I do really like the skirt; the combination of gray and lace is interesting and unexpected.

Re finding one's colors, I am definitely not a warm colors person, but I still like how I look with cream better than straight white. *shrug*

So interesting that it reads as teal - it's definitely more of a hunter green. The light and the camera are playing tricks on us all!

ladell: Aww, thanks! The skirt is a smidge loose at the waist, so I generally go untucked - but I'll try again next time!

Laura: The colors definitely read different in the photo than in real life. I think it works in life, but I may be fooling myself! The whole color thing remains a mystery to me.
