WIW 3/16 to the church social

I did a little retail therapy at Marshall's yesterday and came away with this fab oversized almost-open-weave sweater. I like that it has that open-weave feeling without having any see-through issues. I also kind of like that it shows my collarbones. It looks black and white in the photo but it's really navy and cream. I wore it to a potluck at my new church last night and felt pretty fab.

Sweater: Velvet
Ombre jeans: Jolt
Shooties: Seychelles
"Straw" tote: GAP
Circle necklace: gift from Ornella

What do you think? It's a size small so I think it's supposed to fit this way, but does it look nicely oversized or just plain too big?

Looks terrific, and deliberately oversized, beautifully styled. What's you're go-to dish for potlucks? I'm a spinach strawberry salad girl myself. Or I take a pot of Lemon Chicken Orzo soup.

Perfect size to my eye. And I love the stripes in combination with the open-weave effect, and then those adorable pockets (I do so love pockets on tops:-)

I approve. And yay for a little freshening up of the Spring wardrobe. I think the fit is perfect and I love a navy and cream stripe top for smart casual or casual attire. So were you the best dressed at the church pot luck? (hehe)

Denise, it was hilarious because I emailed the organizer and asked "what's the dress code for this shindig?" and she replied, "We're Universalist Unitarians. Come as you are!" LOL Not very helpful! I think it managed to hit the right note, although I could have dressed up a little more and fit in, too. People were wearing everything from nice dresses to mom jeans.

The fit is excellent. I love stripes when they have the appearance of fluidity. A very modern and fresh outfit, perfect for spring.

I must say I adore the stripes ... and the pockets! Are they functional pockets?!!! I love having a place to stash my phone!

It works for me. The sweater looks intentionally oversized not too big. It has a good drape and is balanced well with the jeans.

Ok I like the sweater, I like the jeans. Just not together. I think the jeans are too heavy for the sweater. I'd love to see a faded blue jeans or don't you have green or teal jeans.

Interesting point, Anna. You can't see it well in the photo, but the jeans are super-lightweight -- not denim but a plain cotton in a jeans style. Hopefully it looked balanced in person.

I do have teal jeans and faded jeans, and I'm also going to try this top with my white skinnies and my mustard skinnies. Stay tuned as spring and summer progress!

Nicely oversize to my eye but the jeans are a bit too loose...but still I love the looks and accessories

Love the sweater! I think it is definitely meant to be oversized and worn as you have it. While I like this combination, I also like Anna's suggestion alot.
