Week 2 of the 30x30 down, and I gotta say, I'm longing for a few new things. I prefer dressing for cool weather, so this 90+ degree weather is getting me down. I can fake it most work days and pretend it's cooler than it actually is, since my office gets frigid in the summer, but stepping outside is painful. I may need (well... want. Strictly speaking I don't need to buy anything else) to pick up a couple more warm weather tops, shoes, and maybe another pair of lighter weight cropped pants for work. I had outfits planned out going into the week, but ended up making a number of substitutions and alterations as the week went on.

#1: Bonus tortie!

#2: Monday. Olive cropped pants, white sleeveless button-down, brown jacket. I was originally going to wear a black jacket here, but the very crisp and rather cold optic-white + black somehow looked strange with olive.

#3: Tuesday. These pants fit somewhat better after a few rounds in the dryer, but I still don't love them. I think the fabric may also be too heavy for this time of year. It has a nice drape to it, but it feels more like a cool-weather fabrication. I'll see if I like them better in the fall before I make a final keep/discard decision. I didn't feel quite as good in this outfit... it was adequate, but kinda boring and not as flattering as some.

#4. Wednesday. My new-to-me (consignment) Helmut Lang dress. The hemline is a fine length for work, but the slit is higher than I noticed before. It'll definitely be fine over tights, and I don't think HR is going to come after me even with bare legs, but for the first wearing, I tied a scarf as a belt and let the ends cover the slit a bit. Also, all-black seemed a little grim for early summer (I might still do all-black anyway at some point, but not this week).

#5. Thursday. Olive+navy again, but a more casual pair of olive pants, rolled because the full length felt awkward with most of the shoes in my 30x30 collection. That made them a bit on the casual side for a non-Friday workday, but I was hoping the heeled pumps and dressy blouse balanced it out. I was camped out at my desk all day with no meetings (finally! I've been longing for a no-meeting day), so I could get away with slightly more casual.

#6. Friday. I need to remember that I like wearing this top under a jacket. I like the open tie detail, but I don't love the fluttery little cap sleeves so much, so it's perfect for tucking under a jacket.
