WIW 2/8: Sona's Dress Challenge, Day 5 -- Layering for the Cold

I knew it was going to be cold today so I saved this dress for today so I could layer it. I was really happy with the result in the mirror, maybe notsomuch in the photos.

Green knit dress: Lands End Canvas via YLF swap (*waving at Natalie*)
Black turtleneck sweater: Ann Taylor
Black tights: Target
Leopard belt: Talbots
Tan boots: Frye
Tan blazer: Ann Taylor, thrifted
Colorblock tote: Vince Camuto

I love it! The camel and green is so pretty together, and the leopard belt adds just the right amount of punch. In fact, you've given me some ideas for styling a basic ponte knit dress that I found at Target last fall.

Of course it works! I think the leopard belt and the tan boots are the key parts, here. Too much black (which is what I would have tried) would have killed the richness in the green. Love the warm of the brown/tan with it! And note to self: I can mix brown and black!

Oh I'm in love with this green + leopard combination! I would probably throw on a denim jacket but I'm sure you can't do that for work. Which boots are those? They look so fab on you!

Oh, my, this is beautiful and I love the dark green, camel and leopard elements. This is perfect layering for today! It works big time and I hope you have places to go after work to keep it in action.

Oh MaryK, you really can wear any colour!! I love you in this shade of green, and the dress looks beautiful with the tans and animal print belt.

I like it a lot without the jacket! I think the blazer might be the wrong tone for the rest of the colors though; your cognac shades are very warm, so the tan blazer comes off as too cool. A richer camel color would work much better IMO. Really love the POP your purse's white blocking adds to the outfit!
