WIW 2/22: My perfect white shirt, finally!

After looking for the perfect white button-front shirt for ages and striking out at Brooks Brothers and J Crew, among other places, who woulda thunk I'd find my perfect shirt at Costco? But look! Nice and crisp, darts in the right places, 3/4 sleeves so no sleeve-length issues, and no bustal gappage! Hooray!!

And it's amazing what you can find on Pinterest these days. I about fainted when I found an outfit featuring a skirt almost identical to one I thrifted a couple of years ago!

This is mostly a super-low-end-retailer look, but I'm pretty happy with it. What do you all think?

Out of curiosity, what wasn't right about the J Crew and Brooks Brothers shirts? (The reason I ask is that I have one of each in my closet, and they are my only white shirts!).

Go back and get at least one more of those shirts, for a replacement in reserve!

Aziraphale, both the Brooks Brothers and J Crew shirts (as well as Foxcroft, amont others) had an unacceptable amount of bustal gappage that no amount of fashion tape or even a little safety pin could mitigate. I am large of bust and broad of back and button-fronts are a gigantic challenge for me! (The J Crew was close and I actually bought it, but it lives with CocoLion now!)

KikiG, I was tempted to buy two of these at the time, and now I am kicking myself for not having done so!

Oh yes, bust gappage is the worst. You know, I've often wondered why tailored shirts don't come in a wider array of shapes -- not just sizes. Tailored shirts are extremely flattering when they fit correctly, and completely the opposite when they don't. And they are such a useful wardrobe staple. But so, so many women have the bust gaping issue. You would think retailers would be clamoring for shirts designed to fit a fuller bust.

That skirt is gorgeous and you're right - the white shirt fits you perfectly - I'm straining my eyes looking for bust gappage and its. just. not. there. Score! Your entire outift is so interesting and fun to look at - from the necklace to the skirt, the belt, the handbag, and those shoes - I die! Great way to finish out the work-week!

Angie always said to leave no retail stone unturned and, WOW, did you take that to heart! I wish I had a Costco membership, as I have issues with bust gaping as well.

I think this "low" (vs "high/low") outfit works well for you, MaryK! The artistry is in how you put these items together, not their price point. I adore the juxtaposition of crisp white, tweed, and camel -- I just want to reach through the screen and touch all those lovely textures!
