Thanks everyone, I was smiling as I read your replies. The sweater is a Helmet Lang, jeans are rag and bone and booties are gidigio. I was at Bellevue Square Mall near Seattle, a mall with a huge Nordstrom. I have worked with a few stylists but I did not really like the clothes they picked out for me, mostly too young as the stylists were young. I met this stylist when I brought some jeans in and we instantly clicked. She is my age and her kids are older. She has put me in some amazing outfits, one time I cut off the tags at the store and wore the dress home. This from someone who keeps thinking about what I bought for a while before I cut tags off.
I decided to use a stylist because I do too much random shopping and kept gravitating towards clothes that did not necessarily flatter me. I did not know how to pull outfits together. I had lots of great pieces but no sense of style. And I kept buying more and more jeans because they are the one item I know how to buy to flatter my shape. The biggest push came when my college summer nanny came over dressed almost the same as me. My oldest will be 12 so we are not yet the same size but I realized I did not want to dress like a 20 something. I love cut off shorts and tanks in the summer but started wearing bermuda shorts which I thought I would hate but actually loved and thought they looked good.
I am closer to my style goals which is to be stylish, put together yet still respect what I like to wear. Thanks everyone for the positive feedback, it feels so good to finally be where I want to be.
