WIW-1st Time-how do you all DO IT??

Wow, took some pictures this week and I realized-this is HARD! I don't look as polished as I thought, my hair is seemingly having a life of it's own, and things just don't fit the way I thought they did...

Kudos to all you girls for having the nerve to do this!

#1: Top AT Loft, looks too big here, Shorts Marciano-years ago

#2: Dress Boden-I Love Boden dresses!

#3:Sandals Top Shop last year. Wish I had bought more!

#4: Top Boden, maybe too large, white capri jeans J Crew

Keep in mind I live in Florida!

The first thing I noticed in Pic #1 is what a tiny waist you have. Nice use of neutrals.

I love the top in #4 - the cut and color are beautiful.

This is a FANTASTIC first WIW! And if it's any consolation, it does get easier over time. You become more comfortable with yourself and relax a bit more in front of the camera.

The dress in outfit #2 is gorgeous on you and I'm crazy about those sandals. Absolutely stunning!

And your Boden blouse in the last oufit is beautiful - the colours work fabulously with your skin and hair colouring.

Pictures do sometimes show things that work but also can be deceiving depending on the angle and perspective and lighting so what you see in real life should be balanced with what you see in the pic I think. That said, welcome and those are some fantastic first WIWs!
I really like the dress and top in bold floral. And your hair is beautiful!

Thoedora - Oddly enough for a fashion forum, I find I must throw vanity out the window in my WIWs. Also please bear in mind that pictures DO lie - they're a moment of time, not a capture of you in glorious life.

You look fantastic! Congrats on your first WIW. I like all of these outfits and don't think the tops look too big at all as they fit well in the shoulders and are not falling off of you at all. I am really liking looser fits on skimpier summer tops these days - it's a very sophisticated look to me.

You look great, Theodora! What a lovely figure you have. You do pulled-together casual very well. I eyed that dress when it was in the Boden catalog, but it wasn't right for my body. I love seeing it on a "real" person.

I know what you mean about the photos, though you look great to me. I often look in the mirror and think I look great in an outfit. Then I see a photo of myself and can't believe how bad I look compared to how good I thought I looked! Part of it is that I probably haven't mentally adjusted to having gained 20 lbs in the last year, but even so I usually feel like I'm an attractive person until I see a photo. I never know whether I should trust the mirror more or the photo more. Makes it hard to be confident that other people are seeing me the way I think I'm presenting myself, and it also makes it hard to post photos when I'm always thinking, "No really, I look much better than that in the mirror!".

I've been meaning to ask if there's a discussion or tutorial here on how to take good outfit pics. I can tell I'll have to get a tripod, at the very least.

Hi and congrats on your first WIW! I just took the leap last week, so I'm a newbie to WIW posting too. It takes a little bravery, right? You look fabulous, though, so now you have absolutely no excuse not to post often!

I love #4 the best. The bright white and the colorful top just feel so perfect for Florida sunshine and they look great on you.

Oh, and as to your question, I take several pics (3-4 different poses) and pick the one I like best. Don't worry too much about it! Anyhow none of us are models, we all love to help and support each other out and have fun with fashion!

Congrats on your first WIW. It does get easier, and the more photos you take, the more you get used to viewing them. After awhile, you will see how well the outfit flatters you, and not zero in so much on "flaws." I do take a few pics of each on a timer, and I choose the best of these to post. I try to photograph all my outfits, but I don't post them all. This has been very helpful, and I'm getting pretty efficient with it. I also can remember the combinations I've created much better now, with a video "record" to refer to.

I agree the short outfit in #1 is so modern and well done. I'm also loving the crisp vibrance of 4. All of these are great choices for you and for life in FL.

Hello, Theodora! Congratulations on your first post --- it's the highest hurdle, I promise, having been there quite recently.

First, aptly enough for your moniker, you look as graceful and gorgeous as any goddess could wish to in each of these!

Second, bear in mind that pictures sort of force you to see yourself as a new person, a stranger you never meet --- unlike the mirror, which most of us see every day and are therefore more used to seeing ourselves as mirror images. I think that's part of what always throws us off. We're seeing ourselves right side, well, *right* in a photo.

Finally, know that usually if you feel great, you need to trust that because a photo cannot communicate movement or comfort very well. There are instances where we feel a garment should be tighter, more fitted, shorter and say so --- but in real life, the poster knows that it can't be or she couldn't move! So when you say you didn't think it fit like it looks, you could be experiencing the disjoint between 'feels snug' and 'looks roomy' or 'drapes well/looks stiff' and similar.

ALL that said, I can only reiterate that you look elegant, cool, and very prettily put together in each of these outfits!
