WIW 1st Month Back @ Work

Hi All,

I've been missing my daily dose of YLF fashion advice and forum fun. I've been MIA mostly because at the moment I'm without internet at home. I can check in from my phone, but I can't post pictures that way.

Last month I returned to work after 10 weeks of maternity leave. Here are a few of the outfits I wore. I'll remind everyone that two of my resolutions for 2013 were to wear one closet orphan per week and to aim for at least 3 out of 4 of the following in every outfit (color, pattern, texture, and shine).

These outfits are true to my MCP style persona and my personal style rubric (Matching, Modern, Classic, Tailored, Proportionate, and Femme). I think the fur vest outfits are my personal favorites!

I especially love #1! I just pinned this look to my Pinterest board this very morning because I love that color combination so much!

@MaryK- Orange and magenta...who knew?! Apparently everyone except for me. I never would have tried the combination if I hadn't found the scarf on clearance last year. Being on YLF has really opened me up to trying color. I have especially paid attention to how you rock color- you're an expert.

You do look fabulous...especially considering you just finished up maternity leave. All of these looks really work for your lovely figure and your rubric, but my favorites are #1, #5, and #6. That color combination in #1 is amazing!

You are returning to work after a baby AND you are able to put together incredible outfits everyday? My "baby" is 20 and I still struggle to get dressed!

My fave is #4. I just love the denim jacket, the striped scarf and the red clutch together in such a fab outfit. Simple yet so chic. Effortless chic!

But all of these are fantastic!

My favorites are #6-7, but they're all so wonderful. I just love that leopard vest!

Fabulous! The denim jacket/scarf outfit is very similar to one I would put together for myself. You look great!

@amiable- Little One started sleeping through the night about two weeks after I returned to work. It was a welcome change, but my under eyes are still recovering

@Angie- I've especially missed reading your blog posts. That used to be part of my morning routine...been catching up all evening.

It's so funny you mention "matchy" in your style rubric; I've discovered that I love matching jewelry sets recently.

We get longer mat leaves in Canada. At 10 weeks, I was still wearing my maternity clothes!!! You look amazing, shape and outfits!

Wow, you may be temporarily without internet, but surely not without killer style! What a great way to come back to work! I love how you play with orange and purple, and pink, and how it looks against your skin. For this my favourite of the bunch might be 1, 2 and 5.

1 looks effortless yet so dashing. The tote is the perfect addition for massive style with the A-line skirt, a cut you wear like a model.

2 (and I think this one must be my favourite of them all) looks like a departure from your usual style direction, still very polished but with a little "rough" element, a little attitude... the whole outfit is so well proportioned and so pleasing if it were music it would be Bach.

5 Again, such a great sense of proportion here. My favourite detail must be the belt. And the cute purse gives it a "behaving" touch, completely in line with the feel of the outfit. Still an A-line skirt, however this time the belt holding the cardi holding the flowery blouse calls for the sweeter, more polished purse you have chosen.

You have a great collection of bags and use them well in all your outfits!

Wow, Jewell! You don't look like you had a baby 10 weeks ago--killer figure! You certainly set the bar high--yikes! So you're just fitting into all your old clothes now? I am afraid of post-partum dressing because I'm pretty sure I'll still look pregnant for a long while.You've got great style--esp. love 1, 5 and 6!And I love that you have matchy in your rubric too. How has it been going back to work? I think I will only get 5-6 weeks off so it's going to be rough. Hope you're getting some sleep!

@Beth Ann- I'm going to try the combo you suggested. My previous attempts at wearing black and brown together have failed, so I'm eager to see if I can make your idea work.

@A- I would love to say it's something I actually did, but I'm pretty sure it's genetics. I've always been envious of my Canadian teacher friends who got a full year off. In the states we get six weeks paid and anything beyond that is without pay.

@goldenpig- I've been told by all my friends that I'm a freak of nature...wore my prepregnancy clothes home from the hospital with all three babies. Don't put any pressure on yourself because style is not a dress size.

@CocoLion- your compliment reminds me of my promise to myself to start back exercising (it's been over a year). Maybe now that I'm getting some sleep I'll find the time.

WOW, just WOW! You look amazing. Welcome back - nice to see you post again and congrats!

All of these are really great. #4 is smashing - love the denim jacket with the black. #5 is just perfection. #6 made me smile - you look so cute! Love the cropped vest in #7. Looks like you aren't missing a beat as you head back to work. I can say without a doubt that I was still an absolute train wreck when I went back to work after baby and I took off four months!!!
