WIW 1/7: Not quite a suit

I had planned to wear this skirt and jacket with different top, but when I hung it up next to the black and white blouse they all begged to go to the office together, and who was I to say no? And I am super happy because I got my "Princess Diana/Kate Middleton" ring repaired over the weekend and it is back in action.

Turquoise pencil skirt: Halogen
Teal trapeze jacket: Amber Sun
Black and white silk blouse: consignment
Red pumps: Madden Girl
"Reptile" clutch: Veronica M (local boutique)
Ring: HSN
Red bangle: YLF swap
Black belt: from a dress long departed
Nude microfishnets: Oroblu

I really dig the not-quite-matching, not-quite-a-suit look of the skirt and jacket. What do you all think?

Oh my - indeed I DO love the not quite matching skirt and jacket together! I also like the black/white graphic blouse underneath and how the reptile clutch pattern mixes with the top. Add in some red pumps and accessories and voila - fabulous outfit!

I do wish I had gotten the teal Amber Sun jacket too - don't you love them?

Yes! I have Mr. K to thank for keeping both of them -- I was trying them both on and dithering about how had it was to choose, and he said, "You don't have to choose!"

Turquoise and red is such a gorgeous colour combo. I too am one who loves things to not quite match. The dissonance really increases the impact of the outfit. And the fit here is just great on you, wonderful outfit!

I am really digging the not quite matching look. It has the polished and professional look without being too stuffy or formal. The graphic black and white blouse adds an extra punch to the look - and not something I would have thought to pair with teal. Two thumbs up from me!

This is one of my favorites! Love the turquoise/teal with black and white, and the red accents -- very sophisticated color palette!

I have a turquoise cotton jacket for summer, must try this with red.

When I try something like this, I look like I got dressed in the dark but you make it look deliberate, professional, fashionable, fun, and FAB - what's your secret? It's a genuine question, actually - is there some secret science to tonal outfits, like some "rule" about how close/ far apart the tones need to be? I'm also loving the turquoise-red combo - Amy did something like this in reverse last week, I think, when she paired her red jacket with a turquoise necklace. And, yes, you gotta love men like Mr.K!

I love teal with black and white! The red accessories are a wonderful punch of additional color. I love how you play with color and print. You look wonderful!
