WIW: 15 10 16. High shaft booties and cropped jeans

I showed you my new high shaft booties, which I LOVE. I also ordered the Current Elliot cropped jeans as a huge gamble a few weeks ago... totally fell in love with them on others. Well, I have no idea how this happens, but they are a perfect fit. And so comfortable! (phew!) So I was excited to try out this combination.

Chose my citron handbag to bring out the citron in the top, and to add a pop.

What do you think? Does it work? I have to admit, I felt pretty good in this.

Fab look ! I missed the post introducing your new pet boots - I'll go back and look ...I really like them. I am frustrated by this look for myself and finally packed up my cropped flares today and put them away until next spring. It was a huge amount of work finding jeans, high shaft boots etc, and I couldn't deal with it anymore. I am super envious of the HL tank - just love it !

Lisa, I'm sorry you gave up on it, I hope it was more for weather than frustration. Cuz I thought you looked fab in your rendition. And thanks for the compliment on the top... I love it too. I was so lucky to find it on a super duper sale after I fell in love with full price. Which I was NOT going to do :).

Ooh! What a fabulous outfit. I love this with the citron bag -- it picks up the bit of citron in the top and gives a nice sour pucker. Love the jeans on you, too.

I think I liked the look better in theory, and not in practice. Ideally, I'd love black mid calf boots, not just a slightly higher ankle boot, which is all I'm seeing. Plus, the flares I did find that were longer than my crops from summer were just cheap H&M jeans and I am not in love with them enough to wear a lot. Chalking it up to an experiment I don't care about anymore

My boots are France Mode. A local store here stocks them, these are my second pair. Interestingly enough, this style/colour isn't even on the company website!

Alright, this is where I get confused. To me, these look like regular boots, not any higher shafted than usual. Every time I read about this here on the forum, the pictures don't show anything higher than normal in my little world. I am looking for boots that come well up the calf - so that they are firmly under the cropped flare. It's the gap between pant leg and the top of the boot I can't wrap my head around. Wearing pants like this with summer footwear made more sense to me - so off they went. I think I'm overanalyzing the whole thing though ;0

I know what you mean Lisa, I have had boots with a shaft like this in my closet for years... I think I saw in Angies post that the "high shaft" boots are 2-3" above the ankle bone. Which these are. As opposed to a lot of the booties that have been around that are more ankle height, like the SE petty's. I wouldn't call them new, just swinging back into popularity. Or with new ways to wear them being put forward.

Or maybe those of us who wear boots 8 months of the year have always had more options available?
