WIW 1/4 and 1/6: Business and casual

1. Wore this to the office for the first work day of the year. I feel like it looks a little dumpier in the photo than it did in real life, but what can you do?

2. I am working the night shift from home Tues-Fri this week so I didn't really get dressed at all yesterday! Today I had a Rotary meeting but it was pouring down rain so I dressed way down.

I like #2 better, but I don't think #1 looks dumpy at all, I think it looks good! Maybe it's the fullness of the jacket and the fullness of the pants that's making you feel that way?

These are fun. I think I'd like to see a longer sweater under the jacket in 1. Here they look almost the same length. Maybe it is different in motion though. I like everything about 2, including the crazy cute hair.

I am a big fan of track pants. I was excited to see how you wore them in an office setting. From the pictures, they looked great. Could you put your finger on WHY they were office appropriate? Was it the fabric? Did it drape so that they looked dressy? Was it the shoes? Did the shoes make the track pants dressy?

I love outfit #2. The sweater, vest and scarf are casual but pulled together and cozy. I don't see dumpy in #1 but maybe a side shot would have helped. Some outfits need a 3D view to get the right effect. I have sweaters that make me look wide from the front but slim from the side.

Sterling, these track pants are great for the office because other than the knitted cuffs at the ankles, they are basically lovely lightweight wool dress pants. They have small pleats at the waist and a waistband, fly front, and belt loops. And they are beautifully soft, too!

Hmm, I'm wondering about the shoes in #1, they just don't quite go. Especially if the pants are wool. Racking my brain for your other shoes to try. Maybe a heeled bootie.

Love the crazy curls!! 2 is awesome.

I don't see dumpy in 1, but to make it more elongating you could wear shoes the same colour as the pants, or wear the scarf long, or maybe a matching top and pants. But in real life fluid looks look fab, but it is harder to show in a pic.
