WIW: 1/3 and 1/4: - YouLookFab Forum

In keeping with my goal of honing and fine tuning my style in 2013, I am trying to post more WIW. I love the feedback that I get and really helps guide me as I evaluate the pieces in my wardrobe.

The first pic is what I wore to work on Thursday. It is a basic outift - black trousers, a printed blouse, and cozy cardigan. All simple pieces but I felt pulled together in the look.

The second pic is what I wore for "casual Friday". Casual Friday generally means sweat suits, or casual jeans and tops in my new office. I want to go for a more "smart casual" vibe. I am also trying to make work pieces work for life outside of the office, so I took a basic sheath dress that I normally wear with a navy blaser, layered a chunky sweater over it, belted it, and topped with a khaki blazer. I added my slouchy boots. I could see this working for a date night but it didn't turn out as "smart" as I wanted it to be.

Kimlee so nice to see you posting again:). #1 is classic Kimlee:). Love the yellow on you me the splash of bright lipstick. #2 looks quite funky to me,I like it. I wonder if it might look a little "smarter" and streamlined without the jacket?

Deborah - Thank you for your kind words. I agree that #1 is a classic look for me. I need to file that away so I can remember it as a guide my look this year. I also like your suggestion of removing the jacket from look #2.

I love the easy silhouette in #1. Have you ever tried this cardi belted?

#2 Is smart but playful, what great legs and boots! I like it just as is, but I agree with Deborah that I'd be interested to see what it would look like without the jacket.

I like both, but I agree that #2 might look more streamlined without the jacket. I think dark tights might look nice as well.

I just love the blouse in #1 and necklace in #2. GREAT pieces! I love what you are thinking of for your smart casual capsule - there's a playful and approachable element that is so fun and fresh.

You look terrific in 1 for work and 2 for play and I really like 2, as is, so play around with the suggestions made and see what you think. I really like the length of the skirt with the boots and the way you've added the belt.

BethAnn - Thanks for taking the time to comment. The cardi was a Christmas present and this was it's first time it came out to play. I love the idea of belting it!

Nicole - Thank you. I am beginning to think that yellow may become one of my signature colors.

Moira - Thank you for the suggestion of dark tights. The temps are still pretty warm so no tights..yet.. But I'll definitely try them when the temps cool.

Kari - Thank you sweetie! My little girl is doing great - growing up too fast and becoming her own fashionista.

MTB- Thank you! I'll take credit for the clothes but the hair is all natural and a gift of genetics (both my parents have thick, naturally curly hair).

I think these both look great! The first, as everyone has said, is classic Kimlee -- you look relaxed and happy, and well you should! And I actually really like #2, as well. Maybe it felt a bit too playful for the office because of the skirt's length. I actually think it's perfect as is with those boots, but perhaps the darker tights would have made it feel a bit less weekend? Though it depends on your climate, of course. I would for sure wear the combination again because it looks super cute on you!
