WIW 1/29: Black and white and incredibly frustrated

I went to court today, as a party in my divorce case, and it was about as frustrating as you can imagine. The whole thing got kicked over for another three months because Mr. K and his lawyer have been successfully dragging their feet. Gah.

Anyway, I wanted to look serious but good and I hope I accomplished that. I found the inspiration pic by searching on Pinterest for "black pencil skirt and blazer." I tried it with the shirttails out (photo 2), but it didn't look serious enough for court so I settled for the studded belt and black fishnets because I didn't have any sheer black hose.

You look fabulous! I am sorry for the somber occassion, but really, you look amazing. I absolutely love the purse. It adds such interest without being over the top.

And I hope things go as well as they can with the divorce. I am very sorry you are going through it, and I know it would be ideal to get it over and done with so you can move on.

MK, it's so hard to be in the middle of things. Neither here nor there. Argh. I stayed in that situation for several years because my former husband relied on my health benefits, and even after he got that sorted out and I moved forward with the papers, he dragged his feet every step of the way.

May I say, though, I don't think I had a single day during that time when I looked as smashing as you look here. Major! Even if color is your signature, you do black and white extremely well.

So sorry about the hearing.... I know how it goes with continuances - was it just because that's how far out the hearing dates go, or are they actually requesting that much time (which is ridiculous)?

Una, it's basically that's how far out the hearing dates go. We were going to set it in late April and then Mr. Personality (Mr. K's counsel) was busy that week so we had go to into May, which just slew me. Gah.

On the bright side, Mr. Personality had filed this ridiculous declaration justifying the continuance, which I rebutted point-by-point in a declaration of my own. The judge actually read both sets of papers, and while it didn't make a difference in the outcome, it definitely gave me positive credibility points and Mr. P negative credibility points.

I takes me victories where I can gets 'em...

That is the problem with a backed up docket. Any request for a continuance results in a delay way longer than needed to the benefit of that party even if they could get everything done in a week!

If only fabness could result in summary judgment!

Talk about grace under pressure! You look both strong and gorgeous. This is an awful situation to have to live through, but you are obviously doing everything you can to take care of yourself. I know this sounds like a cliché, but you will get through it and have a better life. I know this from personal experience. Looking back at how well I survived gives me much happiness and you will find the same.
