Happy holidays, everyone! I'm sorry I've been so scarce but I've been running hither and thither and I continue to have camera issues, but I've been reading your posts and enjoying everyone's holiday outfits!

Yesterday I went to a surprise 35th anniversary party for some old friends -- I was actually the maid of honor in their wedding back in 1979! So fun, and I got to bust out one of my favorite festive dressy/casual outfits. Everything is old (newest item is the clutch, from January) but I felt great anyway. Just goes to show it's great to have a nicely functioning closet.

Floral satin skirt: Talbots via consignment
Chambray shirt: Halogen
Leather jacket: consignment
Black sandal booties: Target
Black clutch: Topshop
Necklace: gift

And in house news, we got the living room almost finished (sofa table is a stand-in for the one that is coming later) for Christmas, and I am so happy with how it turned out, especially the art wall!! My parents and son were here and it was just great!

So does that sofa table flip open into a bar? I kind of like that. That piece could be interesting in black lacquer. I think all rooms need some touches of black, especially if there's a televsion. The black balances or bookends the TV. The focal point art wall is also amazing. You could have a side career in decorating or staging. Topic change: I love the unexpected touch of the chambray shirt with the floral skirt. Happy New Year.

Nebraskim, so funny you should mention black lacquer. That piece is indeed going to be re-painted in black lacquer and it will go under a round mirror on the other side of the door next to the art wall! And yes, it opens into a heatproof buffet.

ETA Angie, we were posting at the same time! My "real" camera has disappeared and I have been a little challenged getting the hang of my new iPhone camera. The chambray with feminine skirt is a lovely combination. I might have to see if I've got the pieces to make a version of that here.
Your living room looks terrific. It would seem to me to reflect a life well lived and that an interesting person lives here. It combines restfulness with talking points very effectively.
