WIW 11/5: Houndstooth and polka dots

I spent the night in the ER with my mom last night after she fainted at dinner. She's home and fine but I am a little worn out. This outfit feels like PJ's and is just the thing for today!

Knit houndstooth blazer: Ellen Tracy
Short sleeve turtleneck: Merona
Polka-dot pants: Old Navy
Red pumps: Nine West
Red satchel: Banana Republic

The pants are a little tight for the office, but it's a no-meetings day so I figure what the heck? I always appreciate your honest comments!

I love the pattern combo, Mary...what a great outfit...and to think it feels like wearing Pj's...better yet. So sorry about your mom..hope all goes well. Went through this recently with my mother and know how hard it is. Hugs to you and yours.

You looked so pulled together after a harrowing evening. I hope your mum bounces back ASAP. I know when I was dealing with my elderly father's frequent ER visits, it was helpful to try to look pulled together the next day. Even if I was tired, frazzled and worn out, I somehow felt better if I looked good. And if I had to deal with doctors, I felt like they treated me a little bit better if I looked professional. Best wishes to you and your parents. Be their best advocates.

You are rockin' those slacks, girlfriend! Definitely appropriate for a no-meetings day (or any day). Houndstooth is another favorite pattern of mine, so I love the jacket too. I hope mom is feeling better.

I hope that your mother is better. Does she have low blood pressure? Older people often get light-headed if they stand up too fast. Or maybe it was a reaction to something she ate. An older woman ( older than me!) sitting next to me at a meeting yesterday had blacked out at a restaurant after eating, fallen and broken her leg. She had food poisoning symptoms too. You look great. Fun but in charge at the same time.

Love your pattern mixing! It's another example of how to do it subtly and professionally -- sticking to b/w, and incorporating simple, graphic prints in differing scale. What about a black or white v-neck top --- it would echo the skin at your ankle and sleeve. I like the t-neck, too!

Oh I love this outfit. Two patterns going well together as they are both black and white. And red for the pop of colour. Being comfortable too is a real bonus. (The heels don't look very comfortable but are very good lookers.) Hope your mum stays fine. Strange and scary thing to faint.

You look great and the pants don't look at all tight. If those are the pixie pants, I have that exact pair and they will stretch out slightly anyway during the day - so so comfy.
