wiw 11.17 official coat season starts

Winter has hit the Prairies. -9C today and windy; not much snow yet, but it's cold and a bit icy in spots. So, out come the coats. This is new this season; not sought out, not needed, but there it was. Pink boucle wool with black trim on pockets, snap closure on collar and a single black button. Just the very cut I love in a coat and one I find meets my need for easy on/off styling , pockets, single breasted , and just above the knee. Plus pink.

Happiness factor: high! Except for an odd reaction to some skin care product the other day which has resulted in swollen eyelids and a slightly burned lip line. Oddest thing ever. Hoping face will return to normal soon , or I'll have to get a new one.

Oh that's gross, Cheryle. My morning drop off at the U of W did take longer than usual but not as bad as yours. Btw - I was in Danier today and saw your ivory leather parka - very nice. No sign of the luxe grey /fur collar one though. I can't wait to see that on you!!

Una - no, it won't be real cold weather coat. I was fine in it today, but it's not fully lined, so that, and that one low button closure make it a fair-weather coat. Now that said, I had a scarf , gloves and a warm sweater on underneath and was totally fine going from car to building etc and across a cold supermarket parking lot. I think this will be more of an occasional coat.

That's how I'm thinking of the new DKNY coat too, if I keep it - different vibe but similar cut. Just can't be that exposed in real weather. But fun for a 'warmer" winter day or MOTG activities.

Suz - total fluke. It was with the small section of Maison Scotch clothes and not in the coat department. There were only 2 of them. Of course it was the only coat in the store that was not on sale that day and didn't qualify for the coupon I had. My best scores seem to always be like that.

I really enjoy your WIW posts. You have an edgy - yet age appropriate style. I totally mean that as a compliment as I'm in your same age group and continuously struggle with this. I don't want to look too OL (old lady) but don't want to look like the "shrunk-in apple head doll" if you know what I mean.

I do worry from time to time that I look like I'm trying to dress younger than I am, but until my daughter starts to complain or comment, I'll keep on it (she's 18 and now brutally honest - lol).
