We're off to a Celebration of Life for my husband's best friend . It's being held at a cute little neighbourhood cafe that was his favourite place to go out to  in the last few months of his life.  An all-black ensemble doesn't feel right to me for this occasion.  I ordered this dress sight-unseen several months ago, never even tried it on (yes, that's right) and had it in my mind to wear when we were invited to this event a few weeks ago. Fortunately it fits.  Very inexpensive but the quality is nice, and I like the way it fits.  (all things considered).

The top is a cotton blend knit and the skirt part is a poly satin which is heavy enough to not require a slip.  I assumed I owned sheer black hose, but I don't, (not having worn any in a few years) so sheer nude it is. No more opaque tights - according to Charly Goss, lol.  (I support this idea though - think it looks a little fresher and more sophisticated ) . My nicest boots are tall suede, which I don't normally wear outside in snow, but the occasion  trumps the weather today.  Old necklace from Club Monaco - verging on vintage, miscellaneous hoop earrings, a Jenny Bird ring, and a professional manicure with a couple of chrome accent nails .  Full makeup, because I still like that for special occasions.

Olive green wool coat from a Hudson Bay house brand which no longer exists, and a silk Echo scarf. Vintage Fendi bag, not shown.

Note to self to de-puff my hair before I leave the house .
