WIW 1/10: Copying again in green gray, and cognac

This has been a crazy week and I have been so happy to have my Pinterest board to tell me what to wear! I'm not 100% sure the boots are the right shoes for this outfit, but I'm walking a half mile to lunch today and I wanted walkable shoes, so... there you go. And as is often the case, I think the outfit looks better without the jacket.

This is far from a home run, but at least I'm decently covered and after the week I've had, I'll take it!

White shirt: Kirkland
Striped scarf: Missoni for Target (waving at Una, who bought it and shipped it south when local stores sold out!)
Cognac "reptile" belt: thrifted
Green pencil skirt: Halogen
Cognac boots: Aldo
Gray blazer: Theory
Cognac satchel: Banana Republic

Anybody else ever have those days when the reality just doesn't quite live up to what's in your head?

I love this color combination. Your scarf and skirt are beautiful, and the jacket looks good with this ensemble too. Yes, a pair of your to-die-for heels might have been better, but the boots still put this outfit in the "fantastic!" category.

Beautiful! Love it both ways. The scarf is fab and I like how it almost looks like a silky vest with the jacket. And the satchel is perfect!

I agree, I like the boots here but I don't love them in this outfit. Maybe because the only casual element here IS the boots themselves. Perhaps with a more casual top half it would work. But yay for comfy to walk in footwear, that's not always easy to find.

And tangentially... you know what? Reality very very rarely lives up to what is in my head. lol. I was just pondering this the other day. I blame it on too much reading as a child! Seriously, though. Wasn't I supposed to grow up to be The Chosen Intergalactic Warrior Mage or something like that? Way to get my hopes up... o_0

I love it, MaryK! Of course I would, though! I'm with you in that I prefer it without the jacket. I think it lets the scarf really sing because it has the lovely white backdrop of your shirt. With the jacket is perfectly lovely, just not as dynamic and gorgeous as without! That these are thrown together outfits is absolutely jaw dropping. We should all be so fab!

Love, love, love this outfit! The scarf and skirt look really good together, and with your hair. And the boots... wow. They add an extra dimension, just a touch of quirkiness that makes this outfit over the top, much, much better than the outfit you copied.

I don't like it quite as much with the jacket, perhaps because it covers so much of the scarf.

Yes, Angie, I do think these boots are both too tall and a bit too wide in the calf to wear with skirts. At least with this style of skirt! I love them over pants so I think I will keep them for that purpose!

I can't get past the fact that you actually own a skirt in that color... So many times I see colors like that and skip right past them on Pinterest... You have an incredible wardrobe and finding inspiration to put pieces togehter in new ways keeps things fun and interesting...

I LOVE this MaryK, and especially with the jacket. The scarf pulls everything together without dominating. You look cool as a cucumber, yet vibrant at the same time. Wonderful with the boots bookending.

BTW, I did 5 copycats this week so I can relate. Just the right jumping off point for inspiration, and keeping fashion fun.
