WiW 10/7 - Wine Suede

So, I realized iIhave not been posting WiWs because I am just not happy with the way things are looking. Of course, not posting means not getting any guidance on making things better, so I am going to try to be ebtter about posting.

I debuted my wine suede Munro booties from the NAS sale today. The heel is 0.5 of an inch more than I normally like, but these are soooo comfy it doesn't matter. I paired them with my color blocked Halogen sweater to bookend the booties, my AT pencil skirt and a bracelet I bought ages ago to add a little sparkle.

Not sure about the whole skirt and booties thing and if they work for me or in this outfit.

I like the ensemble with the opaques. Intentional. It looks like you're wearing a skirt over pants which was fringe trending on the runaways for Fall and Spring.

I like Ceit's suggestion of sheer black hose too. That will make the outfit more ladylike - which you will pull off just as well. xo

Okay, admittedly, I have a soft spot for this look since I am your bootie and sweater twin. And I have even tried out a version of my own.

I say you look fabulous. With opaque or with sheer hose. Perfect outfit!

Thistle: please do not take this the wrong way but do you have great shape wear ? if not I would highly suggest you try some, possibly with a lingerie specialist.

Thistle - I think you look amazing! After reading your post I was ready to do my best to give you some helpful thoughts but I can't think of anything to add. Those colors make you glow. I too am trying to get used to the dresses/booties combo and your outfit gives me courage. Definitely no shape wear needed IMO.

Thistle, I think you look phenomenal! You have come so far from where you started (which was cute, but not near as fab as this). Maybe you are just feeling a little blah because you know things are in transition right now? It makes a person feel restless. You look absolutely fantastic in this, and very fashion forward and bold, as Angie commented. If you want another tights option or two, I love patterned tights, something with a pattern that subtly replicates the stripes in your sweater, for example, as an option or medium grey with something like this. You look gorgeous!

Definitely a successful outfit on you! The booties are so pretty, and I am jealous as I've got my eye on a pair of burgundy booties, too. (http://www.zappos.com/dv-by-do.....o-bordeaux) I think the color works with so many things, and I'm trying to break myself of the "all shoes should be neutral colors" habit.

I also love your colorblock sweater, another style I've been hoping to try this winter. Great look on you!

You look good, the bootie works fine with the skirt. This would look really great with a light tight, maybe a fishnet, or a lighter patterned tight.

I also disagree about the need for shape wear in this outfit. In fact, when I opened the photo, I was going to remark that you are looking extremely svelte and fit. I think the weightlifting and walking are doing great things. I also find that the vertical lines in this sweater along with a straight skirt and toned hose have a very lengthening effect -- at least that is what I felt when I wore the same combination myself. I hope I wasn't deluded. And also, I happen to know that you had the YLF undergarment makeover of the century!

I was going to debut my Munros today, but decided it was too warm at 75 degrees. Sigh. Seeing you look makes me anxious to take them out of the closet! You look great in this.

Love the sweater on you -- so vibrant, but rich. I like the black opaques and think the booties are sufficiently low contrast to keep the line long.

I'd suggest trying it again, and see if you like it better upon another wearing. Sometimes I feel unsure of something just because it's different. We like it!

You might try it with nude fishnets, too. It would lighten the look, but it would be more contrast. Worth a shot!

I agree with Ceit I like the idea of lighter hose. Sheer black? Charcoal gray? I see nothing wrong with the color blocking or the proportions -- especially if the boots are comfy! I love seeing your waist and the fit is great on the sweater.

I'm very late to the party but I like this snappy, modern look just fine. Isn't it the greatest, most all-around flattering sweater? It pairs so well with your sleek skirt and booties. The berry colors sing on you. Nice job.
