After a cool late August and Sept, we’ve been blessed with a long warm fall, with temps in the 60s or even 70s. I am here for it!

The only consistency here is “something around my neck”. Purely unintentional , but that’s how things worked out. What do you think? For cool weather, I’m still trying to add some swish and maybe a little drama. Not sure why I don’t find that necessary in warm weather. Maybe because the shape of the body can be seen, so I don’t need the fabric to add shape?

As usual, I don’t have finds for most of these things, so here’s a list

Awesome! I love all of your outfits. Are your pants in #1 and 9 jeans or cords? Either way, I love the silhouette and they look great on you! I also love the strings of pearls with a shirt collar, and a tie! Lots of fun! The mustard is a good colour for you.

I really love the first outfit--everything fits beautifully and a turtleneck + cords + oxfords is such a classic fall look. I also really love #10: that mustard jacket you're wearing looks so fab with all of the blues you've paired it with.

Very cool outfits! Each one is fun and unique. The t-neck and cords with necklace has a wonderful 70’s vibe. The sleeveless top and pearls ensemble is elegant sporty. The sweater and tie also feel 70’s with an Annie Hall homage. I enjoyed your pics

Jonesy, I might get lost in the leaves in that jacket, lol. It isn’t a color I wear much, but as you point out, it is a complement to many of my faves.

BlueJay, they are cords. Your comment prompted me to add finds and a list to the original post. Ties are brand new to me; I got a little help last week and would welcome more suggestions on them.

Looks like you're having great fun with accessories around the neck. I too, see a 70s vibe with these outfits. Those blue cords are perfect for you. I see you've paired the tie with a v neck sweater and it works and does look very Annie Hall as Nikki suggested.

Stag, just picking up on your comment to star re more fabric seems to equal less frump in cool weather dressing. This is so true. Layering adds interest. It lets you add shape, colour, contrast, etc.

This is why you will hear many forum members say they struggle with summer dressing -- because it is harder in hot weather to add the interest that comes with the magic third piece.

I think the v neck/ tie combo works well. You've patterned mixed to pick up the greys in both pieces, bold idea.

Dee's comment reminds me I wanted to add that the pattern mix with the pullover/tie combo is interesting. Can you make the knot of the tie any tighter (so it is smaller, but not necessarily closer to your neck IYKWIM?)... I think it would be a nice proportion.

Angie, it’s good to hear the tie looks are coming along. They are all fairly wide 70s-80s ties, so I guess they’ll stay under sweaters, etc for now.

Nikki, cool look to wear it so long. One day when the world is safe for 4” ties to come out, I’ll have to try that.

CarolS, interesting. It feels to me like it doesn’t take much to add interest in summer, and the body’s own shape can be shape enough. But in winter with so much fabric, more is needed to make a difference. Guess it’s a proportions thing. Anyway, I’m working on winters. I like your idea about a tighter knot, will try it next time.

Dee, you see the grey too? I feel like there is grey in the sweater, but every time I try to hone in on it, that particular splotch turns out to be green.
