WIW: 10/28 - Angie's Formula

So, I wanted to try Angie's formula of winterizing white pants. I selected a heavy and warm herringbone high low sweater, white trousers, and black booties. I was feeling pretty fashionable all day, then got home and had DH take the picture. I am thinking the boxy high low sweater is not my best look. Oh well. At least I was warm!

I think the sweater need to be looser. But it is not bad.

I really like this. I don't understand why you feel this isn't a look for you. I'd size up in the sweater to play up the casual ease but I love how you've winterized your white jeans. Lovely!

This is pretty slick, Thistle! Is the sweater new? I don't recall seeing it and would totally wear it myself! The chevron pattern even mimics the toe of your boots.

Angie, would blocking the sweater (if the knit would accept it) make enough difference in the fit?

Angie, I think she means that after washing you can very carefully stretch wool in an even way. There's a technique to it but it's not too difficult, and it can often slightly re-size a sweater that has shrunk. You can (to a small degree) adapt the shape of the garment.

Yes, it is a new sweater. Today was its first debut, with white pants instead of my trademark black! DH really liked it, and I liked that it was warm. Whenever he says, "oooh, I like that" I have started to just assume it is a keeper

Great example of the white jeans in winter look! I agree that a sweater with more drape would be even better, but I can see why DH liked this look! I think the black raglan sleeves actually make for a sort of visual slimming, and don't find it a "boxy." Wear and enjoy!

Great print and color block sweater, but I would like it a bit longer. I do have troubles finding them longer, too:-((.

The sweater is lovely, Thistle, and I love it with white jeans. I think the blocking solution is a great idea. You could dampen it, shape it and let it dry flat on a terry cloth. Works every time.

I will try blocking the sweater and see if it works. The sweater is cotton rather than wool. I hope it will still work!
