WIW 10.11 striped moto & flares

Debuting the striped Veronica Beard moto jacket I got when the weather was too hot to wear it. Worn with a simple AE metallic-flecked tee, Lucky bootcut jeans, and a little added texture and color in my blue Modern Vice boots and snake print tote.

I'm wearing this to meet with a restaurant manager about showing some work in their space, and then some errands around town before picking up my husband and a friend from the airport.

I suppose in a way I am embracing a version of the "new" silhouettes Angie posted about the other day, since I have worn fitted tops and flares 3 out of the last 4 days. It doesn't feel groundbreaking to me because it's my old standby style from way before I found YLF. I haven't been wearing the crops so much, and I just realized I should have been wearing them while my husband was away, since he's not a big fan. However, full-length flares are a really easy thing for me to wear. I feel a little conspicuous in cropped flares for some reason. This feels more classic with an edge than trendy, and I guess that's ok.

Love this, Janet. The striped jacket is fantastic and I like the patterned tote for a bit more interest as well. The look is totally me....and YOU.

I know what you mean about this not feeling "new". I just picked up a pair of flares and honestly it feels like the me from 5 or 6 years ago. At the time I had a really hard time moving to skinnies. The flares feel fresh but familiar.

Smashing! I hate to say it, Janet, but you seem to have been doing pretty well before YLF. (You should have seen what I was wearing in my pre-YLF days. It was nothing this fab, believe me.)

I like this a lot. I need to get me some full length flares too! I love classic with an edge.

I think with changing proportions we just need to pick the ones we like. I do wear skinny pants/leggings but always had to be careful with proportions to make them work...I suspect with wider bottom halves I will find the pants/skirts easy enough, but struggle more to get tops that are flattering in a cropped or tucked style.

April, I was certainly sticking to a bootcut-and-fitted-top formula in my pre-YLF days, but to the point where it was too predictable and boring. I'm glad I finally ventured into skinnies, and later experimented with boyfriend jeans and other styles that were not so much in my comfort zone. This type of outfit is very much in my comfort zone, which is not necessarily a bad thing.

I've been wearing this jacket all day, and I'm still not sure whether the stripes are very dark ink/navy or black.

It may not look "new" to you but it does look fab! I especially love how the jacket looks good open AND closed. I have yet to find a moto that does that!

I love this, Janet. I do enjoy my crops but I have already worn my new long jeans twice (need to post a pic!) and seeing you in this outfit explains why. You look really gorgeous here - elegant and sophisticated. I think those terms really have a hard time aligning with crops and other really trendy looks. This is classic style; a look like this will always be current. And that jacket is amazing. I adore the side view: so flattering!!!!
