WIW 0926: Summer Returns + Fall Wardrobe Update

It's been a while, hasn't it? I mentioned in a previous post that I'll need to post my outfits more often - well here's one of them!

I spent the day reworking my fall wardrobe. I lost a significant amount of weight so I had to get rid of some larger, ill-fitting clothes. I also dug into my donate pile and found 4 of my old American Eagle jeans that fit my current body. Yay!!! No more buying jeans! After about 4 hours, I dropped off 2 garbage bags of clothes into a donation box, and am now on my way to a thrift store to sell my unused shoes and barely used jackets that are fall appropriate.

As for wardrobe minimalism: I keep it down to 37 pieces, including shoes, bottoms, tops, toppers, dresses and outerwear (only 1 coat, 1 jacket this year due to anticipated weight loss). I still have a little less than half of the list to complete. I follow a colour scheme (deep/dark red, black, white, grey, dark blue denim, maybe teal). I also have a Wildcard: a pair of my favourite American Eagle flares! They look fabulous with my fluid tops, semi-tucked!

Basically, I still need to purchase:
- 3 pairs of boots, 2 short and 1 tall (seeing podiatrist this Wed so I'm holding off purchasing the boots)
- 1 faux leather/ponte mini that I really really want
- a denim button down shirt
- 3 tops
- 2 longer cardigans (black and red/colour)
- black moto vest
- faux fur vest

Very specific list, I know. I want to make sure all the pieces go together!

Stylewise, I'm going for nouveau grunge with a touch of mod - topped with sparkly vintage-y yet edgy jewelry. I know... It doesn't make sense, right?

Initially, this wasn't my outfit of the day. I had waxed denim leggings and a black faux button down tunic - But it was too hot outside!!!! So I took out one if my trusty VC skirts from my summer wardrobe and wore it with a basic black tee (notice how loose it is? That's my new basic). I hiked up the tube skirt to mini-length and tied a knot on the shirt (because I can't semi-tuck). And because I never figured out my summer footwear, I decided to wear my Fluevog boots instead. Topped off with edgy/vintage-ish statement jewelry.

That's a great modified summer/early fall outfit! Very flattering on you. Good luck with your shopping list: I can imagine you in all of those pieces.

Great outfit! I love the tube skirt as a mini on you. It makes me want to try that with mine, but I think it would be hiked up to my bust at that point

Thanks Dee! The tube skirt is actually hiked all the way up to the bust and them folded (due to excess fabric). My torso is so short that it's so normal for me to hike the tube skirt up to the bust even as a midi (but "midi" to me us below the knee length. Midis do not flatter me at all).

This looks fantastic! Sounds like we could be style twins. I'm going for those limited colours too (except grey--it makes me look dead). And I've got those same 'vogs in purple.

You look great in this outfit, I really like the fun pattern on your "mini." Knotting your top adds interest to the hem, I'm taking notes over here. I'm happy to see somebody in the forum shares my love for AE jeans, I just bought a pair of dark rinse kick boots, medium rise. I was lucky to find them in the short length, so, I'm thrilled that for once I don't have to hem them.

Love the tricky knot on the top (great ideea for those who just cannot tuck, which is me, too:-))-and the tube escalation one is also wort keeping in minds:-) +as I know, Fluevogs always make a strong statement, and YLF!

@froggiebecky: YOU WERE ABLE TO GET THESE 'VOGS IN PURPLE???? Where? Pre-arthritis, I wore all kinds of Fluevogs. Now, I'm stuck with F-soles and the LoF's shoe families (their sole is thick and rigid enough yet low on the heel).

@Gracie: AE jeans (along with Zara and Joe's Jeans) are the only jeans that work on me. I particularly like how AE's low rises don't give me an extreme "overhang" for my squishy belly. AND YES! Isn't it great that you never have to hem AE jeans? I have long legs (despite being only 5'3) and the Artist jeans are PPL on me with my Camper booties (1.75 inches high). Would love to see the kick boots on you!

@lyn67: I learned the knot technique/look from Pinterest. I figured since I can't semi-tuck tube skirts because the waist goes up to my bra line, the knot would be good enough, visually.
