Yesterday, I wasn't feeling so hot on my sneakers and dress outfit. I was feeling a bummed out because Sneaks just aren't my style and I really missed my heels. The bummy-ness dissipated today with my chosen outfit.
This is a typical outfit that makes me feel good - a fallback silhouette of sorts.
- tailored semi-fit jacket with scrunched or folded sleeves
- slim (tapered) skirt
- body-skimming yet drapey top
- tall wedges (but these only have a total of 1.5 inch dip due to the high platform)
I've been trying trends like crazy since May, and followed a lot of YLF recommended trends as much as I can. I have this odd fear of being "outdated" or "too old-fashioned" or "stuck in a decade". In the end, my fallback is, and will always be a classic silhouette.
I also took into consideration what you ladies suggested for my shoe problem. I was unlucky to not have found silver Sofft Bernia's, BUT... I nabbed a shoe I've been drooling over since May - for a lot less. I hesitated the first time I saw this because the sole was thinner (yet rigid) than what I normally wear. My foot also flopped around a bit. The arch support and mid foot support was amazing, though, so I purchased them and stuck a ball of foot cushion underneath. Floppy feet begone, and extra padding added!

And then there's Club Monaco... I never used to shop there because it was too "black and white", not knowing that monochrome high contrast dressing makes me the happiest of happy. You will laugh when I say this (and this is something fellow geeks, ladywone and lyn* will appreciate), but I was drawn to a sweater that looked like chainmail. I HAD TO try it. So I did, and it was the best fitting sweater I've ever worn in my life. Normally, I avoid shiny things on my torso but this time? No way. It fits and it looks fab. It's too bad I can't find a link in the Club Monaco site. Oh - and the chainmail will not be part of my summer wardrobe. It will be part of fall.
I also purchased this lovely top in black:

I thought about a potential return for this but it worked well with my skirts (I have to hike up the tube skirts to a shorter length for this to work) and my waxed denim Jeggings. I'm thinking about getting the taupe version because it looks so dreamy. I don't do taupe, but a girl can gave her wildcards, no? I also feel these tops are great for layering under unstructured tunic jackets and cardigans for the colder months, so they will carry over well.
Anyway I wrote too much! If you read through this, thank you!
