I am sooooo allergic to anything fussy. So today, aside from having terrible environmental allergies acting up (summer is here. Yay.), I was a bit irritated by this outfit. I get many compliments on this top but it's just. So. Fussy. Gaaah!
On the plus side, I did a lot of shopping. I'm getting a bit concerned because I seem to drop a lot of $$$ on my wardrobe these days, but I needed to fill a wardrobe hole - a HUGE one: summer clothes!
I lucked out finding a rayon Calvin Klein fluid button down that goes with EVERYTHING in my closet. It's so graphic and borderline garish but I love it! Best part: it's breatheable! 100% rayon!
And the highlight of my day? I FINALLY own a VC tube skirt in black - ON SALE! I thought about getting another one in print but decided not to get it. After trying out different outfits with the black skirt though, I will come back for it tomorrow. I also fell in love with an open back VC tunic with hardware around the neck. It worked so beautifully with the skirt.
I spent a couple hours after shopping mixing and matching my new spoils. I decided to bring back my Rachel by Rachel Roy bootcuts into the mix now that I figured out how to wear heels/wedges for my foot condition. These jeans make my muffin top disappear so I had to bring back a few body-skimming knits that would work on both the skirt and the bootcuts. I'm happy to say that my wardrobe is close to being summer-ized. Unfortunately, I did not purchase and breatheable dresses. I also had to stash most of my dresses away as they are made of midweight polyester. Most of my toppers are stashed away too, save the white jacket, a kimono topper and 3 vests. I'm keeping two dressy blazers around in case job interviews or formal events happen.
After next week, I will begin prototyping some fluid dolman or kimono sleeve tops in rayon knit. I'll likely knock off one of the new fluid tops I purchased. I wanted fluid, breatheable, loose to help me survive summer.
